2 3 1 1. Reflector 2. Retaining Wire 3. Bulb Assembly 4. Retaining Screw 4 FIGURE 2 BULB ASSEMBLY BULB REPLACEMENT If you suspect the bulb is burned out: A Phillips screwdriver is the only tool required to replace the bulb; (replacement bulb H3 6 volt 15-watt Halogen quartz is required). The replacement procedure is as follows: 1. Make sure the Lantern switch is in the OFF position. 2. Pull the rubber bezel from the Lantern s reflector. 3. Using the Phillips screwdriver, unscrew two screws that secures the plastic band around the lens of the Lantern. 4. Lift the plastic band from the lens and carefully separate the lens glass and rubber gasket. 5. Carefully lift the reflector (1) and bulb assembly (3) out of the housing. 6. Unsnap the retaining wire (2) from the reflector s flange by pinching the two ends together and lifting. 7. Loosen the Phillips-head retaining screw (4) (no need to completely remove) to remove the bulb assembly from the reflector. 8. Slightly turn and lift out the bulb assembly from the back of the reflector. 9. Disconnect the bulb assembly (white wire) from the red power wire by separating the male spade terminal from the female terminal. 10. Insert the replacement 55-watt quartz halogen bulb assembly into the reflector flange. 11. Reverse the proceeding procedure to reassemble the Lantern. Replacement Lantern bulb assemblies are available from an electrical supply house. You may also call Vector s parts desk toll free (866) 584-5504 or visit our web site at www.vectormfg.com 5

CLEANING Over time, there may be dust or fingerprints on the Lantern. If necessary clean the Lantern with, a soft clean oil-free cloth moistened with household window cleaner. Do not use alcohol based cleaners on plastic surfaces. This will eventually cause surface clouding. If the inside of the reflector becomes dirty, disassemble as you would for bulb replacement and clean with window cleaner as above. BATTERY CARE Lead-acid batteries require recharging on a regular basis to maintain a full charge and to ensure good battery life. All lead-acid batteries suffer from self-discharge over time and more rapidly when they are stored at higher temperatures. Therefore, these types of batteries need periodic charging to replace energy lost through self-discharge. When the Lantern is not in use, Vector recommends that the battery is recharged at least every 60 days. All batteries must be recharged as soon as possible after each use. If a battery remains in a discharged state, battery life will be reduced. NOTE: Recharging battery after each use will prolong battery life; frequent heavy discharges between recharges will reduce battery life. You cannot overcharge the battery. The time required to fully recharge the battery depends on the charge status of the battery after it's use or storage. If the battery is discharged, recharge the battery until the red LED changes from lit to unlit. BATTERY REPLACEMENT The rechargeable battery is contained in the base of the Lantern. The battery should be replaced when it does not hold a charge or power the Lantern. You will need a 6 volt, 3 ampere hour replacement battery, and a Phillips screwdriver (number 1 size) four inches long or similar. The procedure to replace the battery is as follows: 1. Set the Lantern on its' side. 2. Unscrew the two small screws located on the bottom of the base of the Lantern. 3. Pull battery cover down and placing both thumbs on top of battery, pull the battery down and toward you to lift the battery out. 4. Lift the battery away from the base. 5. Observe the battery connections red wire and black wire. 6. Remove the slide-off connectors from the battery tab connectors. 7. Note that the tabs are different sizes to avoid polarity mistakes. 8. Set the disconnected battery aside. 9. Place the red and black wire connectors on the new battery. 10. Make sure the red wire connector is on the POS (+) terminal and the black wire terminal is on the (-) terminal. 11. Check Lantern for operation by turning on the switch. 6
