City s Easter holiday programme The City of Cape Town s libraries, nature reserves and recreation facilities are ready to offer children of all ages tons of educational fun this coming Easter holiday. LIBRARIES The programmes at City libraries will focus on Easter-themed activities that children of all ages can participate in, including storytelling, arts and crafts, DVD shows, games and puppet shows. The complete holiday programme can be found on the Library and Information Services Department s website at www.capetown.gov.za/library NATURE RESERVES The following children s programmes will be held at nature reserves during the school holidays: Dates Venue Theme Ages Cost Bookings 22, 23 and 24 March 2016 29, 30 and 31 March 2016 22 to 24 March 2016 Table Bay Nature Reserve Tygerberg Nature Reserve Something Fishy: Over the three days participants will learn how to fish, what sustainable fishing is and why you need a permit. They will also learn about fish anatomy by dissecting a fish specimen on the last day. Ranger at Heart: Activities will include scavenger hunts, compass work, knot-tying, nature walks and a snake show. 8 to 12 years old 6 and 12 years R6 per person Varies Bookings are essential and open on 14 March 2016. 29 March to 1 April 2016 31 March 2016 Bracken Nature Reserve The dates are yet to be finalised Harmony Flats Nature Reserve Nature Calls: Activities will include making bird feeders, nature walks, outdoor games, building insect hotels and bird watching. Recycling Day: Bracken Nature Reserve will be hosting a recycling day in collaboration with the Kraaifontein Library Learners, and the community is invited to come and learn how to recycle, make goods from used material and find out what they can do to reduce their wastage at home and at school. A three-day programme is being compiled, which will include various activities. 5 to 15 years old 8 to 12 years old Free Free Bookings are essential and open on 14 March 2016.
