Digital High Traffic Surveillance with Traffic-Observer Type LMS-06 With the system series Traffic-Observer, ces ag provides public authorities with modular solutions for automatic traffic control. The main item is a laser measuring system with a digital recording unit. It detects speeding, going through red lights, as well as driving against the traffic on motorways. Violations are saved on a digital photo, including all relevant measuring data. By the means of a CF-card or direct network connection, the traffic violations are passed on to the data administration concerned. A special software enables Tech authorities to issue invoices for fines efficiently. In contrast to conventional speed or red light surveillance systems, which cannot work continuously due to the time-consuming changing of films on site, Traffic-Observer systems are ready for use around the clock. The LMS (laser measuring system) detects motor cycles, private cars as well as trucks, and records this information together with the geometrical characteristics. The objects are followed as long as they are within the field of vision of the system. Elec- Combined red light and speed measuring system Traffic-Observer LMS-06 without costly structural works The speed and the distance covered are recorded and made retrievable by the system. This process has been extended so tronics that vehicles, even if not visible for a short time (measuring shadow) can be traced speculatively. Traffic-Observer LMS features state-of-the-art mechatronics and outstandingly high reliability. At the same time, the LMS sensor is unequalled as far as minimal installation costs and
maintenance are concerned. Compared with conventional speed measuring instruments (inductive loops, double radar), Traffic-Observer LMS produces qualitatively excellent measured results. All electronic components meet the highest industrial standards (Compact-PCI System). Its mechanical components, however, are not neglected either. All the components are fitted into a robust cabin. In order for it to withstand any type of environmental condition, the doors, lateral walls and roof have double walls and are provided with small holes for airing. Besides high-resolution digital camera systems, the Traffic-Observer sales program also includes flashlights (Speed Light) in conventional technology, as well as IR-Flashes (LED technology).
The digital photos are provided with an unambiguous signature in order to avoid any possible misunderstandings. This signature is examined automatically when processing the pictures, so that illegal changes in the picture are indicated immediately. In order to ensure an unambiguous assignment of vehicles on streets with several lanes, the direction of travel and the lane of the vehicle in question are also documented in the picture inserts, besides the usual information.
How it works (LIDAR) The Traffic-Observer laser scanner operates on the principle of pulsation runtime measuring: A pulsed laser beam is emitted. If it hits an object, it is reflected and registered in the receiver of the scanner. The time between the emission and the reception of the impulse is directly proportional to the distance between scanner and the object (time of flight). By means of an internal cheval glass, the laser beam is diverted and the environment is scanned in a fanshaped way (laser radar). From the series of the received impulses, the contour of the object is computed. The measuring data are ready for further assessment in real time at the interface. In the scanner, an automatic fog correction is active. Rain drops or snow flakes are blanked via a pixel-oriented assessment. The computed and measured data are made available in real time and are shown directly in the picture.
LMS-06 Features Laser based, therefore no structural works on the roads are necessary. With regard to its implementation, what is needed is only a 230V supply and the laying of an anchor plate. Only one measuring cabin is necessary for both front and rear views of vehicles. On motorways, selective measurement of different vehicle categories is also possible of arriving traffic (frontal views of trucks). Modular build-up of all components, electronic as well as mechanical As a removable data carrier, a CF Card with 4-8GB capacity is provided (this means that with 4 pictures in best resolution per traffic violation, 500 1000 cases can be stored on one CF card. No waiting time for download, since the pictures and measured data are stored on the CF card parallel to the internal HD. The picture data are signed and saved in JPG format. Per traffic violation, either two front and two rear view pictures can be saved and assessed, or alternatively only one front and one rear view picture. The saved data can if data lines are available be transferred directly to data processing facilities via the network. The incorporated digital cameras with RGB-CCD sensor of the size 23.7x15.6mm and with an effective resolution of 6.1 mio pixel guarantee the best possible picture quality. Thanks to the electronic documentation of focal length, it is possible for the first time to implement a zoom lens with f 18-70mm. Time synchronisation is effected via GPS satellite receiver. Allowed range of speed: 10km/h-300km/h Preview The LMS-05 equipment now also for mobile use The mobile LMS-05 measuring equipment consists of the same components as the permanent LMS-06 installation. The system is already in use successfully in Switzerland. The standard equipment contains flashlights, digital cameras, INTEL processing units as well as a data transfer system.
