ROADM 40-channel PLC type ROADM is implemented in ADVA FSP3000 equipment. ROADM PLC supports 2 directions. This solution best of all fits bidirectional nodes within simple networks, for example in rings. ROADM enables automatic remote configuration of optical channels, and organization of optical channels between any network nodes upon request using management system. Structurally, ROADM is realized in the form of eroadm module for each direction and 40-channel filters installed in standard chassis. ROADM configuration FSP 1500 equipment line FSP 1500 line, at the expense of aggregation, makes it possible to increase the efficiency of access to fiber-optic transport networks of applications groups that require high-speed data transmission. However, conformity with the ITU Generic Framing Procedure (GFP) standard provides maximum compatibility with optical telecommunication equipment of other suppliers. Using the existing SONET/SDH infrastructure, FSP 1500 equipment makes it possible to offer new data storage and transmission services characterized by extremely low cost of access. FSP 1500 configuration FSP 150 equipment line ADVA FSP 150 product family devices can be used both on border of Ethernet networks and for aggregation of boundary devices that allows Metro networks operators to construct effective tree-like structures to provide differentiated services. Configuration and some option arrangements of FSP 150 Advantages of the solution - The Etherjack demarcation point technology adds intellectuality to Ethernet-based services, e.g. the CSU/DSU or Smartjack functions; - support of Ethernet outstations over dark fiber, allocated communication links, TDM/PDH or SONET/SDH networks, that allows to construct homogeneous access networks with broad territory coverage;
- Transparent support of a wide range of such devices like switchboards, routers, aggregation devices, etc.; - Aggregation of Ethernet ports in the ratio of up to 1000: 1 without using of Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) algorithm and any MAC address switching. As a result of this the number of expensive smart Ethernet ports in carrier s network aggregating routers essentially decreases; - Is an ideal solution for E-Line and E-LAN services, such as Internet access, dedicated line/lan, VoIP, video etc.; - Possesses In-band and Out-of-band remote control functions (CLI, GUI and SNMP). Solution description Possessing flexible management and control facilities of OAM (Operation Administration and Maintenance) and Etherjack technology, the ADVA FSP 150 family devices make it possible for the carriers to build Ethernet access networks which are much simpler and cheaper than similar networks on the basis of ATM and FrameRelay technologies, but possess the same or even higher functionality. Extended aggregation facilities of ADVA FSP 150 family devices allow to cope effectively with enlargement of Ethernet carrier access network. Such facilities include support of secured 1+1 and ring topologies as well as the ability to increase the number of access ports in the ratio of up to 1: 1000, provided that the network allows oversubscription that, as a rule, always occurs. Eterjack technology Ethernet access network on the base of FSP 150 equipment. ADVA Etherjack technology is Ethernet smart demarcation point concept implemented in the industry for the first time which allows the carriers to implement new kinds of Ethernet-based services. It includes 802.1ag/80-2.3ah standard NTE device (Network Termination Equipment) that performs OAM functions and recommended by Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) UNI (User Network Interface) for providing a broad range of services. Etherjack NTE device contains Etherjack Connection Performance Analyzer (ECPA) with the ability to establish loopbacks at a port or VLAN levels for remote diagnosis of failures by the carrier and inspection of Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC) conformance to the defined SLA level, carried out in accordance with the methodology described in RFC2544. Besides, Etherjack Service Assurance (ESA) function makes it possible to carry out permanent control of rendered service quality. Etherjack UNI allows the fulfillment of such smart operations as the setting of CIR, PIR and BC parameters on ports, priorities and VLAN. ESA uses 802.1p, 802.1q, TOS or DSCP field values to classify traffic within EVC or VLAN. Element Management System (EMS) Element Manager is applicable for adjustment and monitoring of individual NEs. It can be used as a separate system and also it is a standard component of Network Manager. EMS runs on SUN platforms or on MS Windows NT/2000/XP.
Management system graphical interface The intuitive graphic interface of the system is based on the click-to-select technology, it has a built-in documentation and prompting messages database. Access to separate modules and ports via both the graphic with equipment display and through the menu is supported. Functionally, the Element Manager provides equipment inventory, configuration, accident management, gathering of specifications that characterize system operation quality. Additionally, security management and download of new software is provided. Element Manager is developed on the basis of Java and provides simultaneous connection with several network elements (NEs) via SNMP, management of a number of connected optical multiplexers according to one by one pattern and displays the status of each node component. Connections with available nodes and their status are displayed in a separate window. Element Manager supports all ADVA Optical products: FSP 150, FSP 500, FSP 1500, FSP 2000 and FSP 3000. FSP Network Management System FSP Network Manager provides a complete set of facilities for network management on the base of FSP equipment. The system ensures protected and rapid access to any network node. NMS graphic interface configuration.
NMS makes it possible to create services and control network operation as well as to gather information about nodes condition. The NMS system is available on Sun Solaris or MS Windows NT/2000/XP platforms. Graphic interface provides various graphic displays, including physical network topology, logical channel configuration, network emergencies and performance monitoring. Each view offers its special characters for every event, criteria and filters. Creation of services and assessment of channels quality for the whole network can be made via simple operations. Flexible architecture of Network Manager Platform provides quick software change or remote capacities expanding without any delays. CORBA interface and loading of CSV modules are included in the system and enable quick integration with Operating Support Systems (OSS). Network Manager supports any equipment of FSP platform: FSP 150, FSP 500, FSP 1500, FSP 2000 and FSP 3000. Local Craft Terminal Local Craft Terminal is available either in the console mode, or as the Web graphic interface. By means of local terminal the local access to any network node via ports is possible serial interface or Ethernet port, as well as access to any remote node by means of Telnet session. Local terminal software is integrated into network elements (NE).
