Introduction I am writing this article to share my experience while installing NWDS 7.3. There are three ways you can install NWDS 7.3. Here I am explaining, how to install NWDS 7.3 by downloading it directly from service market place. One thing which needs to make sure while you are working with NWDS 7.3 is, that the EHP level and SP level of NW 7.3 system and EHP level and SP level of NWDS should be same. Download the NWDS 7.3 software component from SAP Market place, (You need S-ID to download content from below site) https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/nw/730/doc/auto_latest_distributions.html There are few prerequisite which needs to check before installing NWDS 7.3. Prerequisites for NWDS 7.3 Below are the hardware & software requirement for installing NWDS 7.3 1. Hardware: A system should have minimum of 3 GB free space and 2 GB of RAM. 2. Software: Windows XP, Windows vista, Windows 7 32 bit & 64 bit Windows server 2008 64 bits 3. JDK version: JDK version 1.6.0_7 and higher is required, you can download it from below sites: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html Note: To deploy an application, the JDK version of NWDS and JVM version of application server should be same. 4. NWDS requires 4 native libraries to be installed on the system Microsoft Redistributable Runtime DLLs VS2005 SP1 (x86), version 8.0.50727.4053 or higher SAP RFC Library for 32-bit Windows SAP Graphics Chart Control SAP Webdynpro IDE Form Designer Control Download latest JDK from below link, http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-6u26-download-400750.html 2011 SAP AG 3
Installing NWDS 7.3: 1. Download the archive file from the Service market place. https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/nw/730/doc/auto_latest_distribution s.html 2. A zip file will be downloaded. Unzip the archive file in a folder on local system. The folder structure will be as shown below. 2011 SAP AG 4
3. Start the SapNetweaverDeveloperStudio.exe. 4. Provide the workspace location Note: Do not use the old NWDS version workspace. Create a new workspace for NWDS 7.3. 5. If NWDS detects old JDK version or if JDK is not available in local machine then an error message will be shown as shown below. Install the JDK as explained above in prerequisite. 2011 SAP AG 5
6. Once a JDK is available on local machine, NWDS detects it and a window opens which allows you to select the javaw.exe file. 7. Now your NWDS is successfully installed and available for use. 2011 SAP AG 6
Checking available updates: 1. You can check the available software updates by going to Help > Check for Updates 2. An update check will be run to check if any software update is available or no. You can run the updates check in background as well. 3. If not software updates are available then below message will be shown. 2011 SAP AG 7
How to install new software: Using the NWDS 7.3, you can install new additional software s by finding the Available Software sites. 1. Go to Help > Install New Software 2. Add the available site or you can enter the site from which you want to download the additional components. 2011 SAP AG 8
