(c) 6:00 p.m. is in the evening after school so it is a good time to eat dinner. 12. (d) One of the four squares is shaded so it shows a quarter of a whole figure. 13. (b) Subtract 6 from 13 to find out how many rocks Ian can take home. 13 6 = 7. 14. (c) Adding the number of items shows Maria has 16 items in her backpack. 5 + 8 + 3 = 16.

15. (a) Add 12 + 13 to find out the total number of hotdogs Mr. Todd will need to make. 12 + 13 = 25. 16. 5 tens and 2 ones is the same as 52. 3 tens and 7 ones is the same as 37. 52 is the larger number. 17. 7 t-shirts 2 t-shirts = 5. 18. Counting the snacks shows only 3 students like fruit as a snack. Therefore, the least popular snack is fruit. 19. Counting the snacks shows that 9 students like ice cream as a snack. Therefore, the most popular snack is ice cream. 20. Counting the total number of items shows there are 26 items. So, 26 students answered Mr. Reed s question.
