It is in a unique position to help provide a safety net of support for our members and be stable advocate for our patients and profession in Ohio. I have been involved in various leadership positions in health care throughout my 30
years of active clinical practice as a general surgeon, but the time I have spent as a Governor at Large for the OSMA has shown me how important it is for us to be nimble responsive stewards who address the changing needs of our members. I have a working knowledge of how organized medicine can effect change. I served on the OSMA tack force which crafted the current OSMA Mission/Vision/Value statements. I have served as a past President of the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, served as a Governor for the American College of Surgeons, been a District Councilor and Delegate to the OSMA. To me the OSMA is the ONE organization which provides a sense of true COMMUNITY for physicians in our state regardless of practice setting. I currently serve as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the University of Rio Grande and understand the role of a trustee in team building and balancing affordability and successful outcomes. As a currently employed physician in a rural health system, and former member of a physician owned multispecialty practice, I can relate to many practice models and the needs of the physicians in a variety of clinical settings. I highly value the role of education and mentorship in the ongoing strategic plan of the OSMA and value the active participation of our medical students and residents.
