A world first: pro sound and voice alarm systems from Bosch obtain EN 54 certification Bosch is the first supplier worldwide to offer voice alarm systems with integrated pro sound components compliant with the EN 54 standard Bosch is also the first supplier worldwide to offer a single-source EN 54- certified pro sound and ELA solution BoschCommunicationsSystems VisitorAddress: EVIAudioGmbH Sachsenring60 94315Straubing Germany Straubing, October 2013 Since April 2013, several loudspeaker series from Electro-Voice have been certified compliant with EN 54-24, which is the section of the European standard for fire detection and voice alarm systems that applies specifically to loudspeakers. Now, with the certification of its voice alarm control and indicating equipment as being in accordance with EN 54-16, Bosch has further expanded its portfolio of EN 54-certified equipment. We noted a trend in the market towards combined fire warning and voice alarm systems, says Oliver Sahm, Director Application Design with Bosch Communications Systems. With the certification of our DYNACORD PROMATRIX 8000 system, which includes pro sound components, as being in accordance with the EN 54-16 standard, we are offering our customers in this segment of the market, too, tested products with a corresponding quality guarantee. Not only do the products from Bosch, which have proved themselves over the years, comply with the relevant safety standards and guidelines, but with this certification, the company is also consolidating its position as a pioneer in the field of voice alarm. Oliver Sahm: Bosch is the first company worldwide to be offering a flexible and scalable, EN-certified system comprising pro sound and ELA components from a single source. The following pro sound devices obtained recently as a complement to the DYNACORD PROMATRIX 8000 system unrestricted certification in accordance with EN 54-16: - the Electro-Voice NetMax N8000 system controller and the DYNACORD P64 digital audio matrix manager including the corresponding CobraNet and Dante network cards - Electro-Voice CPS and DYNACORD DSA multi-channel amplifiers as well as the RCM-810 remote control module - the LML-1 loudspeaker line measuring load module for the real-time monitoring of 100-volt loudspeaker lines
August 2013 saw the first project to be planned and implemented in accordance with the EN 54 guidelines: the Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice (France). This demonstrated that, besides their outstanding acoustic performance, our sound reinforcement solutions also met the exacting safety requirements set out in the European standards, says Sahm. A key role in the successful certification was played by our IRIS-Net software, which offers a unified platform and diverse programming possibilities, adds Tobias Pirtsch, Application Design and Tech Support Installed Sound, the project leader responsible for obtaining EN 54 certification for pro sound devices. A further factor was our many years experience of successful installation projects in which already the pro sound and voice alarm systems formed an integrated solution. To provide our customers with the requisite details, we will be offering in future not only a functional description document but also special training in the EN guidelines and correct implementation in system design. It is primarily the customer that profits from our observance of the EN 54 guidelines, says Sahm. The certification gives our customers long-term security in the planning and implementation of their projects and does so Europe-wide. Furthermore, it is highly convenient for the installation companies to be able to acquire certified pro sound and ELA systems from a single source, and gives them at the same time new possibilities for the implementation of high-quality sound reinforcement projects without compromising safety objectives. Such certificates are a boon above all for modern multi-function arenas: a combined solution comprising pro sound and voice alarm systems reduces costs and eliminates the need for a second installation, points out Pirtsch. In many cases, thanks to the certified expansion of the voice alarm system to include pro sound components, a single installation is now possible without special authorisation.
