NEW MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION Student Educators for Active Leadership The mission of S.E.A.L. is to promote growth through leadership to Longwood University and throughout the community. Inside you will find the application and two reference forms. Sponsored Leadership Events New Student Leadership Program (August/September) Fall Leadership Conference (November) Social Justice in Action Leadership Summit (February) Sticks and Stones Anti-Bullying Campaign (April) O B L I G A T I O N S OF M E M B E R S H I P 100% Participation Office hours may be required of all members in preparation for programs such as the New Student Leadership Program and Fall Leadership Conference. This will be on an as needed basis. Positive attitude at all events! Willingness to work hard and spend time needed to plan on SEAL activities. Set a good example for the Longwood community by promoting SEAL as well as being an example for other students. Lead by example through language, friendliness, and willingness to help others and by challenging and inspiring others to get involved. Maintain a 2.5 GPA. Attend Tuesday night meetings at 9:00 PM.

Your responses should not exceed three pages. 1. Describe a person that you feel has good leadership qualities. What makes them a leader? 2. Why would you like to be a member of SEAL? What do you think you can bring to the team? 3. What would you hope to gain from being a part of SEAL? 4. Why do you think it is important to promote leadership opportunities on Longwood s campus? 5. Please include a list of your employment, campus activities, and/or community service commitments, including leadership positions where applicable. Please limit this response to one page. Would you be able to attend the S.E.A.L. meetings on Tuesday nights at 9:00 PM? Yes No INTERVIEW: You are required to complete an interview with our New Member Interview Committee. The interviews will take place February 7 th through February 13 th, 2015. To sign up for an interview, please write your name on the list outside of Lankford 218, anytime between January 26 and February 6. Interviews will be given in 30 minute increments, and multiple time slots are available. In order to be considered for S.E.A.L., an interview must be completed. REFERENCES: You must have TWO references. One MUST be from a Longwood faculty or staff member. Please fill out the top portion of each attached reference form and distribute one to each of your references. You may ask any Longwood faculty or staff member that can represent you well with the EXCEPTION of Adrian Bitton, who serves as the advisor to S.E.A.L.
