Bursaries f Student/Undergraduate Nurses and Registered Nurse Re- Entry Education Programs. 2. Bursaries f Registered Nurses. Please note that there are general qualification bursaries in each categy and then there are others you may be eligible f that have specific requirements to qualify. Befe ticking the box related to any of those specific requirement bursaries on your application, please do not apply unless you qualify. You will find the criteria noted later in this document. ELIGIBILITY 1. Applicants must be residents of British Columbia. 2. Applicants must be Canadian citizens permanent residents. 3. Applicants must meet the specific eligibility requirements listed under each categy. 4. Applicants must have enrolled f the Fall Term 2016. APPLICATION DEADLINE Applications must be completed on- line no later than midnight, September 15, 2016. APPLICATION FEE Your application fee is $25 and can be paid two ways.paypal (on- line) and Cheques (by mail). Cheques should be made payable to RNFBC and postmarked no later than September 15, 2016 to RNFBC, Attention: Bursary Committee. If the payment cheque is being made by another person, please ensure your full name is noted on the cheque. APPLICATION FORM AND DOCUMENTATION To be considered f a bursary you must: 1. Complete either the 2016 On- Line Application Fm f Students/Undergraduates the 2016 On- Line Application Fm f RNs. 2. Provide proof of BC residency, even if you are studying outside BC. A scanned copy of your driver s license, BCID, a scanned copy of a utility bill in your name satisfies this requirement. This must be uploaded when completing the on- line application fm. (Only PDF, DOC, JPG and GIF fmats accepted f upload); 3. Provide Proof of Current Enrolment f the Fall 2016 term as follows: a. If you are a continuing student, scan a copy of a confirmation of your enrolment and upload it when completing the on- line application fm. (Only PDF, DOC, JPG and GIF fmats accepted f upload); b. If you starting your program this fall, scan a copy of your Letter of Acceptance and upload it when completing the on- line application fm. (Only PDF, DOC, JPG and GIF fmats accepted f upload);
4. When completing the on- line application fm, upload proof of any additional requirements listed under specific bursaries. (Only PDF, DOC, JPG and GIF fmats accepted f upload); 5. Include statements of your present and future career goals and how being awarded a bursary might affect them in the My Nursing and/ Education Goals on the on- line application fm. NB: Many applications in the past were rejected because the application fm was not properly completed, the documentation was incomplete illegible, the application fee was missing could not be processed. SELECTION OF WINNERS Winners are selected randomly from the pool of eligible applicants f each bursary. Bursary winners will be selected in October and notified by email at that time, and receive their cheques/award letters by mid- December. Tax receipts are issued the following February. We are sry but only the winners are contacted. Your name and the name of your school of nursing will be announced in RNFBC s newsletter and on its website. WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU IF YOU ARE AWARDED A BURSARY? One thing and one thing only.rnfbc bursaries have been set up to help you with your nursing education and are a gift and as with all gifts, you say thank you. It is our expectation that upon receiving your bursary that you will take time to write a thank you to your don letting them know just how their assistance will make a difference f you. All your don s infmation will be included in your award letter. DROPPING OUT OF YOUR PROGRAM The bursary is awarded to applicants enrolled in their program at the start of the Fall term. If you drop out of the program without completing the term, you are no longer eligible to receive a bursary and you should advise RNFBC in writing. If you receive a bursary cheque after you have dropped out of your program, it is expected that the bursary monies will be returned to RNFBC. PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION RNFBC has a privacy policy which protects the privacy of bursary applicants. Our website and recds are secure. WHAT DO I NEED TO SHOW YOU ARE A DIRECT DESCENDANT? Birth certificate and parent's nursing graduation diploma and marriage certificate letter of explanation. WHAT DO I HAVE TO SUBMIT AS PROOF OF ENROLLMENT? Print out and scan a copy of your current transcript. It will have to have your name student number and current address on it as well as the program of study. MY SEMESTERS ARE LABELED AS BLOCKS OR LEVELS, HOW DOES THIS CORRESPOND WITH THE BURSARY ELIGIBILITY DATES? Students are required to confirm using the letter from the admissions office official transcript that they are currently attending classes during the bursary year. RNFBC cannot confirm that a specific level
block is eligible as each institution uses different labels f each of their semesters. As long as you are in school from September 2016 until March 2017 you fall within the bursary year.
