GENERAL GUIDELINES ECDA - CHILD CARE SCHOLARSHIP FOR BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (FULL-TIME) PROGRAMME CONDUCTED BY SINGAPORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (SIT) IN COLLABORATION WITH WHEELOCK COLLEGE Interested applicants are invited to apply for the ECDA - Child Care Scholarship for the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. This award is open to graduating and graduates from the polytechnics. 1. Benefits of Scholarship ECDA - Child Care scholarships will cover the following components: Course fee 1 (unsubsidized portion of the course fee) Learning resource allowance (once-off) to the recipient Allowance and Airfare subsidy for Overseas Immersion Programme Training allowance (for up to 24 months) 2. Eligibility Criteria Be Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident at point of application; Must not concurrently hold or be serving out their bond for any other scholarship, bursary or funding; and Must be accepted by the training provider into the course/ programme selected. In addition, applicants must also possess: Academic Requirements - 5 GCE O level credits including at least B4 in EL1 (or at least a C6 in EL1 + IELTS 6.5) - Have completed one of the following: a) Diploma in Child Psychology and Early Education, Ngee Ann Polytechnic b) Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Ngee Ann Polytechnic c) Diploma in Early Childhood Studies, Temasek Polytechnic. GPA requirement Attained at least a CGPA 3.00 for ECE Diploma course 3. Tenure of Scholarship 1 Refer to SIT s website for course fee details. If there is a difference in course fee for a PR and a Singapore Citizen, ECDA Child Care scholarship quantum will be capped at the maximum course fee payable for a Citizen. Page 1
The Scholarship shall be tenable for 4 semesters, subject to the nominee s good conduct and progress. 4. Conditions of Scholarship Successful applicants will have to sign an undertaking with ECDA. For continuance of the Scholarship, nominees will be required to complete the course successfully according to the following requirements: Course grades Duration to complete course Bond period (upon completion of course) Minimum Attendance Other conditions To maintain a cumulative QPE 2 of 3.00 or B every semester To complete the course within a maximum of 4 semesters Fulfill bond of 3 years in the child care sector 3 completion of the course 90% for year of the course upon Successful complete and fulfill all required academic conditions stipulated by the training provider 5. Application for the Scholarship Applications for Scholarship must be submitted using the prescribed form.
