Heavy Unit Load Handling Systems Extensive Technology and Application Knowledge

Real World Expertise Combined with the Widest Range of Product Solutions Anywhere.

Dematic Heritage of Innovation Dematic began designing and building conveyor systems more than 60 years ago. Since then, we have pioneered many industry developments, including the first accumulation conveyor. With extensive R&D resources, Dematic s engineers continue to lead the way in conveyor technology offering the broadest range of solutions available. Our 70 year history gives us unique knowledge and experience from installing thousands of systems worldwide. Our systems have a reputation for unmatched reliability. Low Maintenance and Quiet Operation are Designed In. Simulation Modeling The ability to test your system before it is installed is an invaluable asset. Dematic System Simulation creates a fully functioning 3D model that helps us to evaluate your system s performance, while it is still in the planning stages. Optimized system layout for improved throughput, refined software and controls logic, and identification and alleviation of potential bottlenecks are all benefits of using simulation models. Dematic System Simulation creates a fully functioning 3D model. Benefits: Visualization of Future System Operation Multiple Scenario Testing Early Detection of Bottlenecks Roller Transportation Conveyors These versatile transportation conveyors are designed to convey everything from pallets to drums to work-inprocess containers. Transportation conveyors can be chain or lineshaft driven. Heavy duty chain driven units are designed to withstand wide temperature variations as well as contaminates. These conveyors transfer loads positively and can operate at variable speeds. Heavy duty lineshaft conveyor is modular, and its ability to power multiple beds with a single drive means efficient, quiet heavy load handling. 4

Roller Accumulation Conveyors Dematic s ongoing development of accumulation conveyor assures that you are getting the latest technology for the highest throughput rates. Their operation is simple, quiet and reliable. Loads can be accumulated and then released in slug or singulation modes. Zero pressure accumulation conveyor can accommodate a wide variety of load weights and sizes. Smooth starts and stops are designed in, which ensures that even fragile or unstable loads can be safely accumulated and released. Chain Transportation and Accumulation Conveyors Low cost chain conveyors can be used when the bottom of the load can be bridged from strand to strand. They are simple, quiet and require little maintenance. Chain conveyor units, in transportation as well as accumulation, are offered in two, three or four strand configurations. 5

Right Angle Transfers Pop-up chain transfers for roller transport, and pop-up roller transfers for chain transport, both move product 90 degrees to the direction of flow. These transfers redirect loads by lifting and transferring, without reorienting them. They can move product in either direction and can be used to sort loads by transferring a load or allowing a load to pass through. All Dematic right angle transfers are designed for high, continuous throughput. 6

Turntables Powered turntables reorient product by turning it ninety degrees to the direction of flow. Once the load is turned, rollers transfer it in either direction. These turntables can be used to distribute loads by transferring only the loads that need to be transferred. Loads may pass through the turntable without being redirected. The units are quiet in operation and are built for long life. 7

Transfer Cars Transfer cars efficiently distribute loads from conveyor to conveyor. Transfer cars can be used to sort loads, to pick orders or to shuttle loads within a shipping operation. Their smooth, well damped motion means that product is always safe and secure. Pallet Accumulators and Pallet Dispensers These automatic units accumulate and dispense pallets where high throughput is required. Safe, quiet and efficient loading and unloading is designed in. Pallet accumulators and dispensers are cost effective and maximize interior space. 8

Heavy Unit Load Lifts Heavy unit load lifts move product from one level to another. They maximize floor space and minimize load handling. Lifts provide transfer positions for fork lifts or connect conveyor lines of differing heights. They can also be used to raise or lower loads to feed production equipment, overhead monorail systems or palletizing stations. Extra heavy duty components provide long life and maximum uptime. Patented Roller Base When depressed, sensor rollers eliminate drive in the up-stream zone, allowing product to accumulate. 9

Additional Unit Load Handling Technology. Automatic Guided Vehicle Systems (AGVS) Automatic Guided Vehicle Systems expand the capabilities of heavy unit load systems. When a nonfixed conveyance is required, AGVs may be the answer. They are versatile, quiet and can share floor space with people and fork lift traffic. Our Virtual Path guidance system uses a gyro for navigation and can be rerouted easily by modifying its layout with AutoCAD Software. Automated Electrified Monorail Systems (AEM) Monorail Systems make very efficient use of space by placing the transport system neatly overhead. They work quietly and can carry loads of up to 3000 pounds per trolley. Elevation and directional changes can be incorporated into a continuous rail. And, monorail systems support product transportation speeds of up to 600 feet per minute. 10

Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) Only AS/RS offers; extra high density storage, a secure environment and fast heavy unit load throughput. They also provide improved product tracking in a quiet operating environment. Working in concert with other Dematic technology, AS/RS delivers a comprehensive solution for your logistics needs. Custom Designed Equipment Our diverse experience with heavy unit load handling can be put to work in your operation. Custom designed equipment, such as this satellite shuttle, may offer a unique solution that can help you cut costs and gain productivity. Dematic has many of these special tools already developed. Unique equipment for work-in-process, packaging, and warehousing applications allows us to provide you with the best solution. 11

Work-In-Process Systems Finished Goods Handling Systems Dematic understands the importance of keeping the manufacturing process on schedule. Work-in-process equipment designed with an eye on proper ergonomics is our strength. In-floor systems keep product at optimum working heights, gravity units make it easy to move heavy loads from station to station. Additionally, timely cycling of products through assembly cells keeps workers busy and assures higher throughput. Finished goods can often be transported at higher speeds than other heavy unit loads, so Dematic offers systems that can increase throughput from receiving to shipping. These systems move product swiftly without compromising accuracy or product safety. Robotic Interface The queuing of product, slip sheets and pallets through robotic cells needs precise handling. Timing and positioning are the key to maintain a consistent product flow. Dematic has been a pioneer in robotic interfaces and understands that here, minding the details makes all the difference. 12

Packing and Shipping Systems From fragile electronics and food products to complex truck engines and washing machines, we have the equipment that handles them all with a light touch. Our product engineers know that moving loads between packing and shipping tasks need careful, safe transportation. Our equipment is also designed to be integrated with wrappers, palletizers and other packing and shipping equipment. AS/RS Interface Heavy unit load AS/RS systems require input and output staging and conveying systems. These systems must work in concert with the AS/RS to provide just-in-time product throughput. Working together the AS/RS and its interface provide a compact and dense operation that maximizes floor space and minimizes product delivery time. 13
