Temporary - Electric Construction Packet Temporary Electric Service This packet explains what is required to construct your Single new Phase electric Service temporary service and will guide you through the construction process. If needed, DP&L s Construction Control Center Representatives are available on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the number listed below to help with your request for electric construction. Temporary service may be requested for residential or non-residential customers for a period of twelve (12) months or less; this may include single or three phase service. Please note: DP&L cannot guarantee the availability of a temporary service. Temporary - Electric Construction Packet Temporary Electric Construction Guidelines Customer Responsibilities: All electrical work must follow the DP&L Electric Service Standards Handbook which can be found at www.dpandl.com Dayton Power and Light will locate and stake your temporary service location if required after receiving the Temporary Service Data Sheet and Site Plan. Customer will provide and install the meter pole and meter socket at the location that was staked. If underground temporary service is requested, customer will provide cable for temporary meter. By law, everyone MUST contact the Ohio Utilities Protection Service, 8-1-1 or 1-800-362-2764, at least 48 hours but no more than 10 working days (excluding weekends and legal holidays) before beginning ANY digging project. Local and/or State inspection requirements must be met before DP&L will set the meter (please confirm inspection requirements with your local inspecting authority). In the absence of an inspecting authority a waiver needs to be signed by a licensed electrician. Please call the Construction Control Center to obtain a waiver if required. Customers needing permanent service take precedence over customers asking for temporary service. In situations where DP&L facilities are not already available, a request for permanent service will be scheduled ahead of those asking for temporary service. Site Plan Customer must provide a detailed site plan noting the following: North Direction Property Lines Location of new and existing structures Location of all new and existing customer owned facilities (i.e. well/water lines, septic/sewer lines, septic fields, drain tiles, etc) Location of proposed and/or existing driveways Distance (feet) to the road & property lines Location of electric panel(s) and proposed meter(s) location -5-
New Service Checklist Please use this checklist to track the progress of your new service installation or construction project. DONE 1. I submitted my completed construction packet and site plan to the Construction Control Center. 2. I received confirmation post card from Construction Control Center with my project reference number. S.O. # 3. A Design Tech will visit your site to determine the facilities needed to provide you electric service. The project will go through an approval process before an invoice is generated. Please allow several weeks for processing. Contact our Construction Control Center for the status of your project. Design Tech will determine items below that apply. 4. I received Invoice, Line Extension Agreement, and Authorization to Install from the Pricing & Invoicing Department (if applicable). 5. I mailed signed Line Extension Agreement and Authorization to Install with a check to Pricing & Invoicing (if applicable). Date Sent: / / Payment (if applicable) must be received prior to the start of construction. 6. I received Easement Document from Real Estate Services (if applicable) NOTE: DP&L may need to obtain easement from neighboring properties. 7. I mailed signed Easement Document to Real Estate Services (if applicable). Easement(s) (if applicable) must be received prior to the start of construction. 8. Once above requirements are met, a Project Manager will schedule your project. If you are responsible for primary trenching, please coordinate with the Project Manager by contacting the Construction Control Center. 9. My service trench is open and I notified the Construction Control Center (I have contacted OUPS at 1-800-362-2764 before digging). Date Complete: / / 10.
