If a bomb threat, the fire department will determine how far and where to move students from danger. SHELTER-IN-PLACE (Severe weather conditions or violent situation near the school) Stay calm; bring students from outside and Holloways into pre-designated areas (interior windowless rooms if possible) Close and lock all windows and doors, except one. At that door, assign a staff person to monitor and direct late arrivals to a sheltered area Move students away from doors, windows and air vents Take students attendance immediately and report missing students Ignore all bells and remain in Shelter-In-Place mode until a recognizable school staff person directes you to resume normal activities CBRNE SHELTER-IN-PLACE (Chemical biological, radiological, nuclear and/or Explosive events (CBRNE) Stay calm; close and seal all windows and doors. Place a wet cloth or other material over the window sill, door threshold, and HVAC vents Instruct students to hold a damp cloth/clothing over their nose/mouth Be prepared for HVAC units to be shut down Take student attendance immediately and report missing students Do not allow anyone in or out of the classroom once sealed Stop food service until health officials give the okay Follow decontamination instructions from emergency officials Reviewed 2011 Page 3
