Dime.Scheduler for Dynamics NAV Dime.Scheduler is a visual resource planning tool with a rich, interactive web client that is fully drag & drop enabled and that has the familiar Office 2010-like user interface with features like the menu ribbon and docking panels. Concept The main purpose of the Dime.Scheduler is to plan or allocate resources to a certain task. Resource is a general term for people and equipment: people are assigned to perform certain tasks and equipment is assigned to allow people to perform the tasks assigned to them. People can be service technicians, sales persons, help desk employees, consultants etc. Examples of equipment are machinery, tools, replacement vehicles, hotel rooms, and office & exhibition material. Tasks are actions that need to be carried out and they can range from a simple phone call to a maintenance job to a large machinery installation that spans several days. Multiple resources of various types can be assigned to the same task, at the same time, at different times and at overlapping times. Every assignment of a resource to a task is called an appointment. Task and resource types are not preset in Dime.Scheduler, they are defined through setup. Features Graphical plan board component with multiple views Time bar navigation Drag & drop planning Task colour, time marker and priority based on NAV data Assign tasks to multiple resources Define recurring patterns as in Outlook Sort, filter and group open tasks on-the-fly Smart resource filtering with Filter Groups Secondary, alternative or replacement plan board Integrated multi-point geo-mapping Easy user interface personalisation Plan NAV Service, Jobs & To-Do s out of the box Multi-language support Data-driven setup and security Multi-company & multi-database support Dynamics NAV web services 1

Graphical plan board, multiple views & time bar navigation www.dimenics.com/products/dime-scheduler The graphical plan board is completely drag & drop enabled. Drag & drop a task from the list of Open Tasks to create an Appointment, move an Appointment from one day to another, change starting and ending time or move or copy the Appointment to another resource. Preset views include Day, Week by Resource, Week by Date, Month and Timeline. The time bar shows a graphical mini-map of your planning along the timeline. The time bar allows to navigate back and forth along the timeline and to set custom views (example: 3-day view). Double-clicking a date in the time bar selects the Week view. Plan board showing the Day view Custom 3-day view selected in Time bar Task colour, time marker and priority based on NAV data Data from NAV is mapped to the task s Category and Time Marker and a colour can be assigned to each value. When a task is planned it s colour and time marker are set automatically. In the example shown the Service Order Type is mapped to the Category and the Contract Type to the Time Marker. The value SOFTWARE is set to purple and as the Contract Type is empty the time marker defaults to grey. The service order has a Low priority which is depicted with an icon in the upper-left corner. 2

Sort, filter and group open tasks on-the-fly The plan board user can easily browse and search open tasks by sorting the open tasks on any field, by filtering them on one or more fields and by grouping them on one or more fields. To sort simply click on the column header. To filter click on the filter symbol in the column header and use the Excel-like filter dialog. To group simply drag the column header onto the grouping bar. Tasks sorted on Priority Tasks filtered on Category PREVMAINT and sorted on Priority Tasks grouped by Type and then by Category and sorted on Priority Smart resource filtering with Filter Groups Filter Groups give the user a flexible and powerful tool to find the right resource for the job. As with other features Filter Groups are driven by data mapped from NAV. Filter Groups are also part of the data-driven security model which allows you to control access to the application not only by Roles but also based on data! Looking for a Resource from a specific Company and with the right Skills This user cannot see nor select Resources from Company Cronus2 3

Integrated multi-point geo-mapping Whenever an open task or appointment is selected the map jumps to the address location. Selecting multiple tasks will display a marker for each task or appointment selected. These markers can be pinned onto the map in which case the plan board user can visually compare the location of an open task with planned appointments. Any address can be displayed on the map by typing the address in the Search box. Map showing location of 3 selected appointments The next generation in visual resource planning Easy user interface personalisation Each individual user can change the size and position of the different panes in the user interface and can hide or show panes. The personal view settings are stored in the database which guarantees that the personalised user interface is always available when working from the office, the home computer, the hotel room or any other computer. This user shows the map to the left of the plan board This user shows the open tasks and task details to the left and the map at the bottom of the plan board 4

Secondary plan board The secondary plan board, which is also referred to as the Replacement or Alternative plan board, is yet another powerful feature that is driven by data. Certain resources are identified in NAV as resources that are used on the secondary plan board. The secondary plan board is used in a variety of scenarios: to plan specialised equipment, to manage replacement cars, to plan an account manager at the start of a large installation, to distinguish between room types The secondary plan board is linked to the main plan board in every way: it shows the same date range selected in the time bar, shows the same view and is filtered by the same Filter Groups. Tasks are displayed using the same colour and time marker setup. Just as on the main plan board tasks can be assigned by drag & drop and tasks can be copied between the main and the secondary plan board. Special equipment planned for a task assigned to Other features Plan NAV Service, Jobs & To-Do s out of the box Multi-language support A user can select the language of the Dime.Scheduler client application Data-driven setup and security Data is mapped from NAV into the client application to model the behaviour according to the requirements. Filters can be defined on Filter Groups in the security setup thereby restricting the user s access based on NAV data Multi-company & multi-database support Dime.Scheduler can plan resources and tasks from multiple companies across databases Dynamics NAV web services Using the web services from Dynamics NAV we ensure that the business logic from NAV is executed, we allow partners to customise the business logic within NAV and we enable partners to integrate Dime.Scheduler with their Vertical Industry solution.
