What is TED? What is TEDxEskilstuna? TED is an annual event where some of the worldʼs leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. And in fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. Attendees have called it the ultimate brain spa and a four-day journey into the future. The diverse audience CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Geh- ry, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono. www.ted.com In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a pro- gram called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxEskilstuna, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDxEskilstuna event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connec- tion in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self- organized. www.tedxeskilstuna.com

Speakers
Speaker #1 Daniel Mendoza: Positive or negative, a different angle? Can a society develop in a posi0ve direc0on when ci0zens daily get nega0ve informa0on about the problems in the world from media? Can children and young people have hope and faith in the future when every headline they see is cases of violence, misery and despair? And is it really true that nothing good happens in the world? Good News magazine is designed to be a break in the media noise. A break in which the purpose is produce op0mism and confidence. Because if we ever may have access to all the nega0ve and never, or rarely, leave space to highlight all that is good, we lose hope and confidence. Without them, the society can not develop. On TEDxEskilstuna, Daniel Mendoza, founder of Good News Magazine, will talk about the importance of focusing more on the solu0ons, social innova0ons, the need to provide role models and everyday heroes.
Speaker #2 Nina Bozic: The Art of Innovative Mindset Today everyone talks about the power of innovation and how everyone in the company has to be super creative and innovative every day. On the other hand many companies, despite of their continuous innovation efforts, putting in place an innovation process and pouring money into it still struggle to create a truly innovative culture. So what are the key pieces for making the innovation mindset puzzle work in a company? Have you ever thought that performing artists have been using innovative mindset as the core of their business much longer before innovation became a buzz word in business? What can we learn from them that could help us better understand and support innovative culture in companies? At TEDxEskilstuna, Nina Bozic will guide us through The Art of Innovative Mindset to find out more about it!
Speaker #3 Gustav Borgefalk: Taming the force of contests Can you change the world with contests? Gustav Borgefalk, founder of Studentcompe00ons.com believes so. For hundreds of years, contests have been used to drive innova0on, to iden0fy talents and push human imagina0on forward. Contests makes us perform far beyond our limita0ons and push ourselves to results we thought was impossible. We unleash crea0vity and focus our alen0on to solve specific problems. Gustav is a web entrepreneur and contest nerd. AMer having par0cipated in hundreds of contests and seen what a good challenge could do to increase people s mo0va0on, Gustav started his global contest company out of college. At Singularity University / NASA he further explored the future of contests and learned how these can be applied to tackle the grand challenges of our 0me. Today, Gustav helps governments, companies and Universi0es to solve their greatest challenges, using structured contests and challenges as the tool. At this talk, he will introduce the concept of contest- driven processes, and his vision of how contests one day will be used to solve all of mankind s most pressing issues: create world peace, send men and women into outer space and cure cancer.
