Comprehensive Hospice Care ONE CALL. HOME CARE FOR LIFE.

Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNA) Hospice is uniquely qualified to provide comprehensive supportive care for patients with serious health concerns and their loved ones. Whenever a condition progresses beyond the point of recovery, a seamless transition to VNA s compassionate, skilled hospice can provide comfort and reassurance at one of life s most difficult times. Thousands of patients and their families have received VNA Hospice assistance since the program was established in 1996. VNA Hospice families share their experiences You provided my father with the peaceful passing I envisioned for him and helped us cope with our loss. You made it possible for my mom to live her life to its fullest to its very last day and she looked forward to your visits. When it came time for my husband to transition to your Hospice program, it felt like you wrapped me in a security blanket and gave me the confidence I needed.

A century of compassionate care The establishment of Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNA) Hospice in 1996 was a natural outgrowth of VNA s long, distinguished tradition of caring for seriously ill, homebound individuals at every stage of life. In fact, long before a formalized hospice movement emerged in this region, VNA was quietly bringing comfort to patients with life-limiting illnesses. VNA Hospice offers non-denominational counseling, as well as access to clergy from all major faiths. When you choose VNA, you are choosing: A caring organization consistently awarded excellent satisfaction ratings in independent surveys of families who have received hospice assistance. A comprehensive home care provider capable of addressing all physical, emotional and spiritual needs. A highly respected, nonprofit organization with more than 117 years of service.

A life-affirming process The concept of hospice is based upon the ancient principle that every life should be valued and afforded dignity until its end. The goal of hospice is neither to hasten or delay death. It is simply to ensure the best possible quality-of-life in its final phase. That philosophy is the foundation upon which VNA has built a comprehensive program that we deliver to our clients in the comfort of their own homes, as well as nursing homes and other residential settings. A spectrum of services for mind, body and soul A specially trained registered nurse serves as the case manager for every VNA Hospice family, working in close coordination with the patient s personal physician and our Medical Director. Based upon the specific needs and preferences of each patient and their loved ones, the nurse is joined by other VNA representatives, all of whom have been trained in hospice care. VNA Hospice provides: Palliative nursing care including pain and symptom management to ensure patient comfort. Access to all skilled VNA services whenever warranted in response to special patient needs including physical therapy for safety and transfer issues, occupational therapy for upper body concerns, speech therapy for swallowing issues and dietician consultations for nutrition and feeding concerns.

Compassionate, specially trained nurses provide palliative care and coordinate the work of all hospice team members. Counseling, emotional support and access to other community resources provided by experienced social workers. Chaplains who offer spiritual and emotional support and guidance, as well as facilitate reconnection with local houses of worship upon request. Certified home health aides who assist with personal grooming and housekeeping chores. Mind/body connection, stress relief activities including Reiki and meditation for both patients and their families. Companionship and help with errands provided by thoughtful hospice volunteers. Bereavement counseling for family members in the difficult months following the passing of their loved one. Help is just a phone call away There s no need to go through one of life s most difficult experiences in isolation. VNA Hospice has supported thousands of local patients and their families through the physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges associated with the final phase of life.
