Connecting your Omega/BetaPAT PLUS to a PC via a USB Install software Windows XP and below Insert the disc into your computers disc drive and run through the setup wizard. Windows Vista & 7 1. Insert the disc into your computers disc drive and cancel the auto run. 2. Then select computer and select the appropriate drive (this should usually be identified by the name of Metrel DD and/patlink PRO) 3. Right click and select open or explore. 4. In the file view screen there should be a setup icon. Right click on the icon and select run as administrator. 5. When windows asks you if you would like to run the software select yes. 6. Run through setup wizard as normal. If the software has been downloaded please ensure that the file is unzipped/decompressed before installation. Setting up the Omega/BetaPAT 1) On the Main Menu, select the Recall\Delete\Send Memory option 2) Find the files you require To search for every file in a particular field (excluding date), place a * in the relevant field(s) e.g. to perform a general search of the machines memory. Type in as shown below (changing 27-05-02 to today s date) 3) Press F1 to find your files. The following screen will appear
4) Press F3 to send a single file or F4 to send all the files found 5) A screen will appear with connect to PC and Connect to Printer, by pressing F1, set the Baud rate to 115200 and (by pressing F5) set the format to METREL+ 6) Press enter and the tester should display the message connection to PC. Setting up PATLink 1. Open up the Patlink program and select the header Instrument 2. Select get results 3. Select the OMEGAPAT PLUS/BETAPAT PLUS option from the instrument name drop down menu 4. As in setting up your PC select the correct COM port and set the BAUD rate to 115200 5. Press the start button 6. Press the yes option when the program asks you if you would like to save duplicates (these are the test results) 7. After the downloading data process has finished press the close button situated at the bottom of the reading measurements box. Managing the Data and creating reports Please refer to the help menu in the software. If the instrument does not download please run through the following steps. Setting up your PC Windows Vista & 7 1. On the desktop of your computer left click on the windows logo 2. in the search section type in Device Manager 3. Follow through the XP and below section from step 5. Windows XP and Below Depending on the configuration of your operating systems, there are two possible routes through your operating system. These routes are described below (Windows XP and below)
1) on the desktop of your computer, click on the start button in the bottom left of your screen 2) a) if your start menu contains in a single column, go to settings and then click control panel b) if your start menu contains two columns, click on control panel in the right hand column 3) Your computers control panel will open up in a window on your desktop a) If the window has a purple/blue background with pick a category at the top, double click on Performance and Maintenance and then double click on System icon. b) If the window has a white background double click on the System icon. 4) Your system properties will open in a window, click on the Hardware tab at the top of the window and then select Device Manager 5) A window will open which lists your computer components, double click on Ports (coms and LPT) and a drop down menu will appear. 6) In the drop down menu should appear the serial to USB bridge (if not, ensure your MI3311 is connected into a USB port of your computer and refresh the screen. If the driver still does not appear, try a different USB port or a different converter). 7) Double left click on the USB to serial port to bring up the port properties 8) A window will appear with the communication port properties, click on the Port Settings tab at the top of the screen. 9) In the baud rate/ bits per second field, click on the down arrow and select a rate of 115200 then press ok at the bottom of the window.
10) Remember which com port the USB to serial device was installed on as this will be required when setting up the PATLink software. 11) Close down all the windows on your desktop and open PATLink. Troubleshooting 1) When changing logo/s Patlink states that you require administrator privileges close the program, right click on the shortcut/desktop icon, select run as administrator & re-try. 2) My computer does not recognise the USB device/usb device has not installed properly. The USB drivers have not installed correctly. Please visit the device manager (as in setting up your PC section) and press the + symbol to the left of the others option. Double click on the serial to USB connection. Select the install/update driver option. Select connect to internet for update and wait until the computer has automatically updated the driver and re-start your computer. If this does not work - In the wizard select let me choose the driver and select the disc drive (please ensure that the Patlink disc is inserted in the drive). Let the wizard run through the installation and when completed re-start your computer 3) Microsoft SQL fails to install Your computer needs updating, please select automatic updates from the control panel and install all important updates. 4) Patlink may require updating Please follow the link below to download the latest version of Patlink. http://www.metrel.co.uk/servicesuk/software.html The software will download in a zipped/compressed file. Please unzip/decompress the file before installation (this is achieved by right clicking the file and selecting extract/de-compress/unrar) once you have unzipped the file select the setup file (by double clicking) and run through the setup process. 5) Your COM port could be occupied by another program. Set the port back to an available com port in the advanced option of the com port screen (accessed by the device manager and double clicking on the com port), restart your computer and try downloading the information again 6) There may be a problem with the computers com port. Try loading the software onto another computer and try downloading your data again. 7) Your computer may need updating - please visit the Microsoft website and check your computer for available updates.
