INTRODUCTION The attached report has been prepared to satisfy requests for Washington State Community and Technical College faculty salary information. It is a compilation of the most current salary schedules. The information was extracted from community and technical college contracts and bargaining agreements. 9.02 Salary Schedule Newly Hired Full-Time Faculty Upon ratification of this contract, the initial base salary placement schedule for a Full-Time Tenure Track or Temporary Full-Time Faculty position shall range from forty-eight thousand to fifty-five thousand dollars ($48,000 to $55,000) annually; salary placement shall be determined in accordance with Article 9.03. The total salary allocation for the initial placement shall not exceed the maximum of the salary range. 9.03 Salary Placement - Newly Hired Full-Time Faculty A Master s degree from a regionally accredited institution shall be considered a minimum requirement for employment as a Full-Time Faculty member. Salary placement will be determined according to the following provisions: 9.03.01 Minimum Salary Newly hired Full-Time Faculty shall be initially placed at forty-eight thousand dollars ($48,000). Final salary placement shall be increased from that minimum according to the following criteria: 9.03.02 Instruction/Relevant Work Experience A maximum of five (5) years of instructional and/or relevant work experience combined shall be considered under Articles 9.03.02.01 and 9.03.02.02 below. No more than one (1) year of teaching/work experience credit will be given for experience gained within an academic year. Credit will be given for less than one full year of experience on a pro-rata basis. In order to receive credit, faculty will be required to provide employer documented verification of all teaching/work experience within sixty (60) days from the date of the confirmation of employment letter sent by the Office of Human Resources. 9.03.02.01 Instructional Experience A maximum of five (5) years instructional experience shall be considered under this category. One thousand dollars ($1,000) shall be given for each year of eligible service. In circumstances where less than a full year of experience is documented, credit will be given on a pro-rata basis. Full-time postsecondary and secondary education experience will be accepted on a year-for-year basis. Part-time post-secondary and secondary education experience will be accepted on a pro-rata basis. No more than one (1) year of teaching experience (forty-five (45) quarter credits or its equivalent) will be given for an academic year including summer. An academic year shall include summer, fall, winter, and spring quarters. 9.03.02.02 Non-Instructional Employment Experience A maximum credit of five (5) years of non-academic experience shall be considered under this category. Previous non-academic experience directly related to the primary assignment and which was earned within the last eight (8) years will be credited on a year-for-year basis (one thousand dollars ($1,000) for each year), credit will be given on a pro-rata basis. 9.03.03 Advanced Degree Newly-hired, Full-Time Faculty possessing a Doctoral degree, MFA, or equivalent terminal degree from a regionally accredited college, in an area that supports the College s curriculum shall receive an additional two thousand dollars ($2,000) in annual salary for a maximum of one qualifying terminal degree. Faculty will be required to provide official transcripts verifying all educational credentials prior to the completion of the salary placement process. 9.03.04 Competitive Option Additional funds beyond fifty-five thousand dollars ($55,000) may be allocated in order to more closely match the base salary of the newly hired, Full-Time Faculty with the salary of a comparable position at the faculty member s current, regionally accredited academic institution or current industry employer. It 13

is the College s intent to restrict use of the competitive option to situations where doing so is required to fill a faculty position with a qualified candidate. Within ten (10) work days of final placement, the Office of Human Resources will notify the CCCFT concerning the results of the final placement process, and the criteria used for placing each faculty member. 9.05 Associate Faculty Salary Associate Faculty shall be compensated at the 2009-2012 academic year rate for the Summer 2012 term. Thereafter, Associate Faculty shall be compensated on a per contact hour basis according to the following schedule and shall be adjusted as per Article 9.04.03.
