Grid ingredients: Networking (EumedConnect)

Grid ingredients: acquire competency through collaboration Collaboration Belgium-Morocco: since 2003! Belgium: Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) HEP: CMS, H1, ICE 3, crystal clear, OPERA, PET Grid: BEGrid and EGEE! Morocco: Centre National pour la Recherche Scientifique et Technique (CNRST) Université Abdelmalek Essaadi (UAE)

Collaboration: acquire grid expertise 2003: brainstorming (O. Bouhali-ULB et C. El Amrani-UAE)! acquire basic knowledge in grid computing and necessary tools! Dissemination campaign: identify applications in the Moroccan research world! setting up a nation-wide group in «grid computing»: - develop and maintain competencies - grid related research: distributed activities, web services,! build a national grid computing infrastructure! build a national Certification Authority (CA)! get involved in international grid projects

Collaboration: UAE (Morocco) and ULB (Belgium)! Installation and administration of a local cluster: - basic Linux OS - Bach system and scheduling techniques - parallelism (MPI) - cluster networking

Collaboration: UAE (Morocco) and ULB (Belgium)

Collaboration: UAE (Morocco) and ULB(Belgium)! Prototype of a certification authority: basic cryptography principles issuing digital certification for the grid (user and machines)! Local grid computing platform main grid computing machines certificates issued by the CA prototype test sample jobs running on the grid! Dissemination campaign nation-wide

Collaboration: CNRST,UAE (Morocco) and ULB(Belgium) Why CNRST?

Collaboration: CNRST,UAE (Morocco) and ULB(Belgium) why CNRST? It has the following responsibilities:! MARWAN network management! EumedConnect partner! government decision to build a computing centre at the CNRST! partner of the FINCOME program FINCOME (Forum International des COmpétences Marocaines à l Etranger) = knowledge transfer through expatriate

Collaboration: CNRST,UAE (Morocco) and ULB(Belgium) National Grid Platform: MaGrid! project proposal sent to the CNRST grid mailing list: discuss grid issues! National committee on grid computing (December 2005): road map for a national grid platform National grid management committee Pilot phase (2006-2007): two years period, three sites to be connected Final phase: nation-wide grid platform
