1. Introduction c-treeace Status Log Analyzer is a stand-alone utility designed to analyze the c-treeace Status Log File named "CTSTATUS.FCS", which contains important information regarding the status of the c-treeace Server. Information placed in this file includes informational messages, warning messages, and error messages. This is an important file to analyze on a routine basis. All Rights Reserved 4

Startup 2. Startup The c-treeace Status Log Analyzer is a stand-alone utility that does not require a connection to the c-treeace engine. The tool loads with the following screen and is ready to open a c-treeace Status Log File for analysis. The name of the c-treeace Status Log File is "CTSTATUS.FCS" and is located in the working directory with the c-treeace executable file. Note the file is all upper case on platforms that are case sensitive. All Rights Reserved 5

Open a File 3. Open a File Once c-treeace Status Log Analyzer is loaded open a c-treeace Status Log File for analysis by selecting the Open command from the File menu or clicking the following icon: the Open Dialog window below. to access All Rights Reserved 6

Open a File After highlighting the desired Status File and clicking Open (or double-clicking on the file name) you will be presented with the Select Interval window which displays the date range for the entire status log. In our example below we have data from October 25, 2005 through February 19, 2008. Choose the range of data you are interested in analyzing and click the "Include Time Details In Selections" check box if you'd like the time stamps to appear. Note the graphical view of the Status Log (displayed in the "Filter Graphic View" tab) is set to display only 300 days worth of data. If your Status Log has more information than this you will see the following screen: Even though you have received an error message, c-treeace Status Log Analyzer still loads the entire file because you can view the entire file in the "Raw View" tab. To reduce the date range to All Rights Reserved 7

Open a File fit within the 300 days maximum for the Filtered Graphic View tab select the following icon to re-access the "select Interval" window: to reduce the date range. All Rights Reserved 8

Using Main Window 4. Using Main Window The c-treeace Status Log Analyzer main window contains 5 tab pages to help organize all of the data placed in the Status Log by the c-treeace Server: All Rights Reserved 9

Using Main Window 4.1 Filtered Event View The Filtered Event View is a graphical display of selected event messages from the Status Log File and contains the following List Box and Columns: Event(s): This list box provides various options for filtering the event messages that are displayed in this window: Startup - Shows only messages involving the Startup of the c-treeace Server. Shutdown - Shows only messages involving the Shutdown of the c-treeace Server. Startup+Shutdown - Shows only messages involving the Startup and Shutdown of the c-treeace Server. Auto Recovery- Shows only messages involving the Automatic Recovery of the c-treeace Server. Time Stamp - Displays the Date and Time Stamp the message was entered into the Status Log File. User # - Displays the user number that generated the message. Error # - Displays the error number associated with the specific message. Description - Provides the message detail. Using Main Window Elapsed Time - Indicates how long the event detailed in the Description column took to complete. Note, all of the columns except "Elapsed Time" may be sorted by left-clicking the Column Heading. An arrow appears in the right side of the Column Heading to instruct you the view is currently sorted by this column. Click the arrow to toggle between ascending and descending sorts. 4.2 Filtered Text View This view shows all of the information contained within the Status Log File sorted by message type. The message list in the left pane shows all of the available Event Categories. Only the Event Category with a "+" sign preceding the name has information to view. All Rights Reserved 11

Using Main Window Click the box with the plus sign ("+") to expand the Event Categories and then select a specific Event to view the occurrences of this Event within the Status Log File. In our example below we have expanded the Communication Event Category (COMM) and are looking at all of the occurrences of the NETW Event. Note, all of the columns may be sorted by left-clicking the Column Heading. An arrow appears in the right side of the Column Heading to advise you the view is currently sorted by this column. Click the arrow to toggle between ascending and descending sorts. All Rights Reserved 12

Using Main Window 4.3 Filtered Graphic View This view is a different display of the same information contained within the Filtered Text View. This view below shows the same Event Categories but with a date range across the top of the table. The colored cells show the locations where information is present. All Rights Reserved 13

Using Main Window Simply double-click a colored cell to produce the following results which are identical to the Filtered Text View. Note, all of the columns may be sorted by left-clicking the Column Heading. An arrow appears in the right side of the Column Heading to instruct you the view is currently sorted by this column. Using Main Window 4.4 Raw (text) View The Raw View is a complete list of all of the messages from the Status Log File in an unfiltered list. By default the messages are sorted in chronological order using the TimeStamp Column. You may sort using any column by left-clicking the Column Heading. An arrow appears in the right side of the Column Heading to advise you the view is currently sorted by this column. Click the arrow to toggle between ascending and descending sorts. Menus 4.5 Messages View The Messages View is a complete list of all of the event messages that may appear within the Status Log File. By default the messages are sorted in ascending order by the Category Column. You may sort using any column by left-clicking the Column Heading. An arrow appears in the right side of the Column Heading to advise you the view is currently sorted by this column. Click the arrow to toggle between ascending and descending sorts. 5. Menus The c-treeace Status Log Analyzer menu options are as follows: File Menu Open - Use this command to open a c-treeace Status Log File from disk. Exit - Close the c-treeace Status Log Analyzer and disconnect from the c-treeace Engine. All Rights Reserved 16

Icon Row Options Menu General - Use this value to increase the number of rows (lines) the "Raw View" tab can display. Colors - Use the radio buttons in the Colors tab to set the colors used by c-treeace Status Log Analyzer by choosing between the default windows blue color scheme or a silver theme designed by our developers. Help Menu Contents - Display the c-treeace Status Log Analyzer help file. Index - Display the c-treeace Status Log Analyzer help index. Search - Display the c-treeace Status Log Analyzer help search window. About - Provide information about the version of the c-treeace Status Log Analyzer executable. 6. Icon Row Use this icon to Open a c-treeace Status Log File from disk. Use this icon to access the Select Interval dialog box for narrowing the date range for c-treeace Status Log Analyzer to operate over. All Rights Reserved 17
