Currently, he is supervising 5 Ph.D. candidates, 9 final year projects and 7 postgraduate students in the field of electronic materials. Research Activities. In the framework of his Ph.D. thesis entitled Array Sensors Based on Amorphous Alloys, new array sensors based on the magnetostrictive delay line (MDL) technique had been developed. During his postdoctoral fellowships, new sensors and materials based on the MDL technique as well as new calibration faciliites for sensor characterization had further been developed. During his appointment as Assistant Professor, Professor and Head of the Laboratory of Metrology at the TEI of Chalkis, new sensors based on the MDL technique and other magnetic effects, as well as new characterization techniques for magnetic materials had been developed. As Assistant and Associate Professor at the NTUA, he has developed new electronic and magnetic materials by using chemical vapour-liquid reaction techniques and rapid solidification methods, as well as corresponding sensor, actuator and electromechanical systems. Furthermore, he is working in the field of magnetic non destructive testing, his group being a member of the Universal Network of Magnetic NDT. His personal research work has still been in the field of magnetostriction and magnetoelasticity. All these activities were financially supported with projects of a total budget of ~3 MEuro and resulted in more than 100 publications in ISI journals, more than 50 papers in other journals and international conferences and 12 patents.
