Previously, she worked at Warwick Business School, ESCP Europe, Nottingham University Business School, and the Centre for Decision Research at Leeds University Business School. Laure's research agenda is organized around three core topics. First, Laure has an interest in the performative power of theories - that is their ability to shape the world and business practices. Second, Laure is passionate about decision-making. She studies decision-making processes both at the organizational and the individual levels. She focuses on cases where decisionmakers experience knightian uncertainty. Third, Laure has a specific interest for the reinsurance and the insurance industries. Laure's research has been published in reviews such as Organization Science, Organization Studies, the Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, the Journal of Behavioral Decision-Making, Theory and Decision, and La Revue Economique. Laure is a Fulbright Fellow and a former student of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Cachan). She holds a Ph.D. from the Toulouse School of Economics (France), a Master of Research in Environmental Economics from the University Paris I-Panthéon Sorbonne, a Master in Management from the University Paris XII, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Toulouse II-Le Mirail. Strategic Management Additional Topics Decision theory Management Reinsurance Industries/Professions Insurance Current Research The performative power of theories I am investigating the performative power of theories - that is their ability to shape the world and business practices. I study in particular the mechanisms whereby economics and management theories become performative and contribute to the economization of contemporary societies. I also conduct research on the relationships between academics and practitioners, and the usefulness of management theories for managers. Decision-making under uncertainty I am passionate about decision-making processes, both at the organizational and the individual levels. At the organizational level, my research is informed by insights from the process perspective in strategy, the strategy-as-practice stream of research, as well as by foundational works from the Carnegie School and the cognitive perspective in management (including distributed cognition). I focus on the roles of decision-making tools (broadly defined) in strategy making. At the individual level, my doctoral research focused on situations where decision-makers face ambiguous information and/or receive conflicting recommendations from their advisers. I also have an interest for the balance between analytical and intuitive modes of information processing. Risk management and calculative practices in the (re)insurance industry I have a specific interest for the reinsurance and the insurance industries. I investigate (re)-insurers calculative practices (e.g., CAT models, underwriters pricing routines) and the regulation of risks in this global industry (e.g., Solvency II).
