2013 BOMA/Chicago Committee Descriptions Affiliate Committee (Affiliate Members only) Consists of all Affiliate Members of BOMA/Chicago. Forum for discussion of Affiliate Member issues and needs. Chair: Sandra Melton, Eurest Services Vice Chair: Robert Graham, Facility Solutions Group Audit Committee (invitation only) Reviews audit and accounting procedures; work with senior staff and auditors to insure accurate and informative financial reporting, tax compliance, and other matters. Chair: Katherine K. Scott, U.S. Equities Realty, L.L.C. Staff Liaison: Michael Cornicelli, Executive Vice President Codes Committee Reviews code compliance problems and interpretations; drafts and recommends code changes; works with appropriate City departments on codes issues. Education Committee The Education Committee identifies training that fulfills the needs of all members working at a range of career levels and with various commercial real estate responsibilities and offers courses to meet those needs using various formats and media. The Committee manages the selection, training and performance of instructors, monitors the content and instruction of the offerings and evaluates the success each education program including venue, instruction, and content. The Committee determines scholarship requirements and selects recipients for the RPA course track. For all designation/certification education, the Education Committee ensures that the courses and instruction meet or exceed the standards set by the designation provider. Chair: Susan K. Hammer, Riverview Realty Partners Vice Chair: Joell Molk, Golub Realty Services Meetings: First Monday of each month Faculty Development Subcommittee The Faculty Development Subcommittee reports its recommendations to the Education Committee for review and approval. The mission of the Subcommittee is to oversee the instructor and speaker selection and approval process for designation and on-going courses; monitor instructor teaching performance and code of professional conduct, and facilitate instructor development programs that advance the teaching skills of the BOMA/Chicago faculty. Scholarship Subcommittee The Scholarship Subcommittee manages the process of selecting scholarship recipients for BOMA/Chicago designation courses and makes recommendations to the Education Committee and Board of Directors for approval of scholarship recipients. Chair: Joell Molk, Golub Realty Services Emergency Preparedness Committee (invitation only) Develops, analyzes, and implements emergency preparedness and life safety measures with a focus on the strategic planning and implementation of citywide emergency preparedness and business continuity efforts. Business Continuity & Resiliency Subcommittee Provides the BOMA/Chicago community with a forum for the exchange of relevant and useful business continuity information that may be applied to a building s operational strategy to reduce risks, hazards, threats and vulnerabilities and increase the building s resiliency. Chair: Michael Schroeder, U.S. Equities Asset Management, LLC Vice Chair: Reed White, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Security Subcommittee Conducts programs for building owners and managers on critical security issues; develops, recommends and publishes security policy recommendations; and maintains working relationships with the Chicago Police Department and other local, state, and federal agencies. Chair: Edward Caspers, Behringer Harvard Vice Chair: Mark Kexel, Titan Security Services, Inc. Meetings: Third Tuesday of each month Energy & Sustainability Committee Evaluates issues relating to energy procurement and use, including electricity, natural gas, energy services, green technologies, conservation, and sustainability, and recommends policy positions and actions. Meetings: First Wednesday of each month Information Committee Manages the development and distribution of information to BOMA/Chicago members, the public, and others through the website, newsletter, public relations, TOBY Awards, and special events. Cohn, @ Properties Meetings: Second Wednesday of each month TOBY Subcommittee Manages all aspects of The Office Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards and Gold Circle Awards programs, including judging requirements, selection of judges, monitoring of the entry and judging process, providing direction and guidance to entrants, and marketing and coordinating the TOBY/Gold Circle Awards Gala with the Social Marketing Committee. Labor Committee (invitation only) The Labor Committee works to negotiate mutually effective agreements with labor unions for janitorial, security and engineering employees and also coordinates the grievance hearing process. Chair: Robert Quast, Lincoln Property Company Vice Chair: Dean Johnson, U.S. Equities Realty, LLC Membership Committee The Membership Committee reviews membership applications and evaluates new membership opportunities. Chair: Lori J. Olson, CBRE, Inc. Vice Chair: Bradley Borowiec, Zeller Realty Corporation Emerging Leaders Subcommittee Provides career development, educational, and networking opportunities for BOMA/Chicago members with 10 years or less experience in commercial real estate. Chair: Lucas Schlemmer, Tishman Speyer Vice Chair: Rhett Ledford, Strata Contractors Medical Office Building Subcommittee Makes recommendations regarding Medical Office Building recruitment, education, and other issues. Chair: Tim Conway, Golub & Company LLC Vice Chair: Jim Wissinger, Automated Logic Corporation Nominating Committee (invitation only) Proposes and evaluates potential candidates for election to the Board of Directors; proposes an annual slate of recommended nominees for consideration by the Board. Social Marketing Committee Fosters participation of Building Members and Affiliate Members in networking events by planning and executing events that support BOMA/Chicago, benefit and recognize the best interests of all Members and are conducive to networking between Affiliate Members and Building Members; assists other Committees with planning and executive of events they sponsor. Chair: Betsy Traczek, The John Buck Company Vice Chair: Mara Weinburger, Hard Surface Finishers, Inc. Taxation Committee Analyzes proposed City, County and State tax policies and legislation as they affect the industry; develops and recommends BOMA/Chicago positions on taxation; conducts research on appropriate taxation issues. Vice Chair: Lance Knez, Hines Meetings: Monthly as scheduled Trade Show Committee Plans the Annual BOMA/Chicago Trade Show with the purpose of strengthening the relationships between Building Members and Affiliate Members through educational and networking opportunities.
