Office 365 Pros / Cons Technology regularly updated SaaS reduces load to manage lower levels (Exchange security patches, Updates Exchanges) High Availability provided by design with no internal investments on geographic redundancy Standard product well defined. Knowledge on the market available Computers have to be kept updated as patching and OS level Lower levels problems can be difficult to be isolated. Some mitigation through powershell Support on lower levels problems difficult to escalate. Need to identify key support and good partner AD Integration with ADFS if implemented causes authentication depending on your own AD availability 23
Office 365 Pros / Cons Big suite value (Sharepoint, Exchange, Lync, Office Suite and now AD Rights Management) Some functionalities are not equivalent to on Premise version. Difference reduced over releases Small fee to add PBX functionality to users to manage all enterprise voice calls via Lync Added functionalities with no added costs over the years (Yammer, Hosted Archive) Lync 2013 permits hybrid environments mixing on premise and on cloud versions Lync online doesn t permit to act like PBX. Require on premise version Strategical need and sense of some functionalities sometime difficult to control (i.e. Skydrive pro in Wave15) Lync 2013 can demand on network. ROI is outside IT. Need to plan reporting to proof ROI 24
