Netspan Network Element Management System Scalable Element Mangement Solution for Airspan s portfolio of RAN and Transport Solutions a leading LTE Small and Compact RAN solution provider www.airspan.com

Netspan Provides an end-to-end management solution for integrated Access & Backhaul networks.

Comprehensive Element Management Solution for RAN (4G & 5G) Netspan is Airspan s management solution that manages its network elements in the RAN (4G & 5G) and Backhaul product lines. Based on client-server application, it provides an always-on service running on a Windows based environment with front-end web application. Mobile Operators are facing increasing complexity in the management of Mobile networks. HetNet deployments & multivendor sourcing require multiple EMS from different vendors to manage the RAN & Backhaul networks. Netspan uses SNMP to communicate with the network elements over its southbound interface. Its northbound interface is based on standards based SOAP protocol that is easy to integrate with any customers Operational Support Systems (OSS). Designed to accommodate customer requirements through its flexible configuration and architectural options, it can be deployed in a virtualised environment to support high availability and scalability, with an option for seamless failover if any node fails. Netspan enables the integration of backhaul and access technologies within a single EMS, redefining the way in which networks can be managed and rolled out. Web Applications Clients Web Services Clients Netspan provides a fully flexible Web GUI, which can be customised to provide different options for each Netspan operator. It also allows configurable access rights to be defined, allowing each operator of the EMS to be granted the rights appropriate to their function. HTP / HTTPS O&M Network Failover Cluster Netspan provides configuration and diagnostic access to each network element, and can identify the network toplogy & geographical location to correlate alarms / events between RAN & Backhaul networks. Netspan Virtual Server Web Server (IS / ASP.NET) SQL Database Netspan Services Mainframe File Server SNMP SNMP RAN & Backhaul Nodes

REDUNDANT, DISTRIBUTED ARCHITECTURE Netspan provides a flexible solution that allows different architectures and toplogies to be deployed depending on individual customer requirements. Netspan supports a fully redundant architecture with hot standby servers and storage arrays with high availability. It also supports a distributed architecture with services installed across multiple machines. This flexibility allows Netspan to be customised to fit within any existing network topology. SCALABILITY Netspan is a highly scalable management solution, supporting small campus networks to nation-wide deployments with many thousands of nodes. It provides configuration profiles and advanced search functions to simplify the management of large scale networks. WEB BASED GUI Netspan has been designed around convenience and provides a web based GUI using HTTP or HTTPS, supporting commonly used browers. This approach means that it is easy to deploy, and network operators do not need dedicated client software, or machines to access Netspan. The web GUI can easily be customised according to the roles assigned by the operator. COMBINED ACCESS / BACKHAUL MANAGEMENT Netspan is optimised for the combined management of RAN small cells and Wireless Backhaul. This enables the deployment of Airspan s small cell with integrated backhaul without the need for separate management systems, therfore reducing both O&M CAPEX and OPEX. VIRTUALISATION & HIGH AVAILABILITY Netspan can be deployed in a virtualised envionment, enabling a high availability environment with full redundancy and real-time failover. A group of independent servers can be clustered together to host Netspan application in a virtual machine. As soon as any server or link fails, another server immediately provides the service hence minimising any disruption in the management domain. Virtulisation of Netspan allows scalability of hard disks and processing power according to the scalability requirements of the system.

NORTHBOUND INTERFACE The Northbound Interface is supported using SOAP/ HTTP(S) protocol, allowing Netspan to easily integrate with a customers OSS. All of the key functionality available through the GUI can be invoked using the Northbound Interface, including configuration management, inventory management, alarm management, node status & performance management. SQL DATABASE Netspan makes use of SQL database to store the configuration, statistics and alarm history from the network. Separate SQL databases can be utilised to separate storage of historical information from the real-time configuration. This allows separate archiving and back-up policies to be adopted between each database. FCAPS Netspan adopts the FCAPS ISO Telecommunications Management Network model and framework for network management. FCAPS functionality includes the following areas, which are supported for all managed nodes through the Netspan GUI: Fault Management Configuration Management Accounting Management - Administration Performance Management Security Management Netspan integrates database management as part of the solution, providing a full suite of database administration tools, and database integrity checks.

NETWORK ELEMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Netspan is a Network Element Management System (N-EMS) which manages Airspan s portfolio of Small Cell and Backhaul solutions across the whole network. It can simultanesouly manage multiple types of equipment using SNMP protocols, allowing all nodes to be independently managed and controlled. Netspan incorporates all of the features that are required to comprehensively manage and monitor Airspan s entire product portfolio, and supports the roll-out of individual nodes, or mass deployment of equipment using plug & play technology.
