HOSTING A FUNDRAISER with Christian Children s Fund of Canada This is the mural at the community centre. I like the mural because it says that we live without violence. Thanks to CCFC, it has created a space without violence for us. Elimar, 12, Nicaragua

Thank you Thank you for your interest in hosting your own fundraiser to support children, youth and families in developing communities through Christian Children s Fund of Canada (CCFC). Together, we can help children grow, laugh, learn and play so they can achieve their full potential. About Christian Children s Fund of Canada OUR VISION We dream of a world where every child has a voice and the ability to achieve their full potential. Our mission CCFC creates a future of hope for children, families and communities by helping them develop the skills and resources to overcome poverty and pursue justice. 2 Hosting a Fundraiser with CCFC ccfcanada.ca

Our reach Through the generosity of donors, CCFC is able to assist more than 500,000 children, youth and community members in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Nicaragua and Paraguay each year. Families gain access to clean water, education, medical care and job and skills training. Healthy children participate and use their voice for change. Communities tackle the root causes of poverty and lead their own development. We set goals in partnership with each community, and develop step-bystep plans to achieve them. Fundraising is fun, educational and it works! Consider involving family and friends, classmates, faith organizations, special interest groups and clubs in your fundraiser. Apart from learning new skills, everyone who participates will gain new insight on the needs of children living in poverty. By volunteering to host a fundraiser, you are helping CCFC make a bigger impact, because more support can go directly to programs that benefit children in need. Getting the word out about your fundraiser Fundraising requires promotion as people can only support a cause if they know how to help! Consider using posters, social media, word-of-mouth or traditional media to let people know about your effort. Here are some ways to get attention: Posters Make and share posters about your fundraiser. Include key details (location, timeframe, where to donate), so there is no confusion. Talk to local schools, restaurants, supermarkets, stores or coffee shops to see if you can put up your poster in their space, and share the poster through social media networks. PLEASE NOTE: The use of CCFC s logo must be approved prior to use. Please give us a call at 1-800-263-5437 ext. 221 or email bbell@ccfcanada.ca and we ll be happy to help.

Social Media Share information, photos and short videos about your fundraiser through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and other social media you use. Ask your network to engage their friends to Like, Share and Comment on your fundraiser. Word-of-Mouth Talk to everyone you know about your fundraiser; explain why you want to raise money for children and families in developing communities through CCFC. People will get involved if they believe a cause is worthy and their support will make a difference. Ask friends to help spread the word, too. Media Newspaper journalists, radio and TV stations and bloggers are always searching for interesting stories and events happening in their area. If you are planning a large event, you may want to send a press release, photos, and videos to local media to try and get some media attention. Be sure to include what is unique about your fundraiser and what you hope to achieve, so that your story has a news angle with a realistic chance of getting covered. Influencer Support Are there influencers in your social circle who could endorse your fundraiser? What about a school principal, police or fire chief, business leader or politician? With some advance notice, they may lend their support through a quote and/or photo on your poster, through social media outreach, or in media relations. ccfcanada.ca Hosting a Fundraiser with CCFC 7
