New York requires resident company auto appraisers to be licensed as Independ ent s with an Auto Damage or Theft Appraisal line of authority. Beginning 12/15/09, independent adjusters must submit electronic fingerprints with their license applications. 2. Georgia does not require licensure for resident or nonresident salaried insurance carrier adjusters. However, Georgia does have other adjuster licenses for other claims functions. An adjuster license in Georgia requires prelicensing education and an. 3. Different s use different methods of separating claims adjusting authority. Some s use the license type to define claims settlement authority; others use specific within a license type. It is possible to be licensed in a particular line of authority in the resident but not qualify for a license in a nonresident due to differences in license authority. 4. To maximize reciprocity it is suggested that the licensee possess equivalent license type in home or resident. Other s that do not offer specialty lines such as "Auto Only" or "Workers Comp Only" may not grant reciprocity. 5. There is an waiver if the applicant has 3 consecutive years experience or 5 years total experience settling claims within a 10 year period. 6. It is important to note that the actual date of license expiration must be calculated on an individual basis with regard to when the original license was issued. For first time license applicants, consider the license expiration (renewal) date when applying. The expiration/renewal date may only be months from the original license application date which results in added fees in a short time period. This is particularly true in s that have a "hard renewal date" (e.g. June 30, odd years). SALS strongly recommends that the PDB be consulted to verify the license renewal date tes SILA Copyright SALSLicensingChartNewFormat5_18_2015.xls 6
