Laurent hit.636 (7-11) in Liberty's three-game series with Radford this past weekend. The leftfielder drove in seven runs on three home runs and a double, helping the Flames clinch a berth in the 2005 Bojangle's Big South Championship tournament. He posted a 1.545 slugging percentage, a.692 on-base average, scored five runs and had two-or-more hits in all three contests. In game one against the Highlanders, Laurent was 3-4 with two homers and three RBI. In game two, he homered and singled at the plate, while going 2-4 with a double and a run scored in the series finale. NEW BALANCE CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK Andy DeLaGarza Sophomore Coastal Carolina Ossian, Ind. DeLaGarza went 2-0 last week with wins over No. 5 Georgia Tech and UNC Asheville. Against the Yellow Jackets, he tossed 6.1 IP, allowing 7 H and 5 ER in the 7-6 win. After a four-run first inning, DeLaGarza settled down and scattered just 3 H in his final 5.1 innings, while inducing four double plays. Against UNCA, DeLaGarza fanned seven batters, permitted just 3 H hits in six-plus innings with four double plays. For the week, he totaled 12.1 IP, 10 H, 7 ER and 10 SO. Mike Honce Junior Winthrop Bridgeport, W.Va. Honce started and won two Conference road games last week, defeating High Point and Birmingham-Southern. He allowed one earned run in 7.1 innings against High Point, while striking out six batters, then earned the Eagles' series-clinching win over Birmingham-Southern with a seven inning, seven-hit, one earned run performance Sunday. Honce's line for the week: 2-0, 14.1 IP, 13 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 7 BB, 8 SO,.236 opponents batting average, 1.26 ERA.

BIG SOUTH WEEKLY BASEBALL REPORT CONFERENCE NOTEBOOK MAY 16, 2005 NOTING THE BIG SOUTH COASTAL-WINTHROP SERIES TO GET AIR TIME SATURDAY Carolinas Sports Entertainment Television (C-SET) will air Game Two of this weekend s three-game series between Coastal Carolina and Winthrop live on Saturday at 2:00pm. The Chants enter the series with a one-game lead over the Eagles, and Coastal will need one win to tie and two wins to win the Big South regular-season title outright and earn the top-seed in the Bojangle's Big South Championship. C-SET will also air the Conference Tournament championship game on May 28. TUCKER BLASTING OFF Birmingham-Southern 1B ADAM TUCKER belted five home runs last week to raise his season total to an NCAA-leading 23, the second-most HR in Big South history and five away from tying the League mark of 28, set in 1987.
