Virtual Environments Workstation/Client, Application Server, Database Server Requirements VMware ESX or VMware ESXi versions 4.1 VMware ESX or VMware ESXi versions 4.1 with Citrix Presentation Server version 4.5 or XenApp 6 Memory Sizing For Application Server Workstation/Client, Application Server, Database Server Requirements When deciding on how much memory to configure on the Application Server, 4 GB of RAM is the absolute minimum. Add 1 Gig of RAM to the Application Server for each 2 concurrent users of the system. Each Mainspring interface (specifically SessionSync, Remote Monitoring Interfaces, HL7 Inbound, HL7 Outbound, One-Stop Scheduling and Report Export) should be considered a user for this purpose. CPU Sizing For Application Server Workstation/Client, Application Server, Database Server Requirements Processing can be broken down into three separate categories: user interaction from clients, Mainspring interaction, and HL7 interactions. If the work of the system is evenly split between all of these categories, get a CPU with 4 or more cores. If the work will mainly be done by a user via UI interaction and very little with the Mainspring, get a CPU with 2 cores, but one that is fast (higher MHz, bigger L1/L2 cache, and fast front side bus speed). 6
