National NHS Staff Survey 2011 Action Plan & Actions to date

Health Warning 13% of workforce (842) receive the survey directly from Capita. 52% (438) of those sampled returned their questionnaires. These survey results are based on 7% of the workforce. Whilst 842 is a representative sample, the accuracy of the response is affected by only 52% of that group responding. The response rate across acute NHS trusts was also 52%. In 2010 44% of BSUH staff who were sent the survey returned it.

Survey Structure The survey is structured around the four pledges to staff in the NHS constitution published in 2009, plus two additional themes: Staff Pledge 1: NHS staff have clear roles and responsibilities and rewarding jobs that make a difference to patients, their families and carers and communities. Staff Pledge 2: NHS staff have personal development, access to appropriate training for their jobs and line management support to succeed. Staff Pledge 3: NHS staff are supported to maintain their health, well-being and safety. Staff Pledge 4: NHS staff are engaged in decisions that affect them and the services they provide Additional theme - Staff Satisfaction Additional Theme - Equality and Diversity
