Introduction Every school has its own story to tell. The context in which teaching and learning takes place influences the processes and procedures by which the school makes decisions around curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The context also impacts the way a school stays faithful to its vision. Many factors contribute to the overall narrative such as an identification of stakeholders, a description of stakeholder engagement, the trends and issues affecting the school, and the kinds of programs and services that a school implements to support student learning. <br><br> The purpose of the Executive Summary (ES) is to provide a school with an opportunity to describe in narrative form the strengths and challenges it encounters. By doing so, the public and members of the school community will have a more complete picture of how the school perceives itself and the process of self-reflection for continuous improvement. This summary is structured for the school to reflect on how it provides teaching and learning on a day to day basis. SY 2013-2014 Page 2

Description of the School Describe the school's size, community/communities, location, and changes it has experienced in the last three years. Include demographic information about the students, staff, and community at large. What unique features and challenges are associated with the community/communities the school serves? Our new school that was built in 2006 is equipped with sixteen classrooms, a distant learning lab, and computer lab, an equipped science lab, and a media center. We also have a 400 capacity auditorium. We have two Apple Mac carts as well (30 Macs & 25 Macs). The old wing of the school (attached to new) has four classroom room, an equipped science lab, and our media center. Each classroom is networked with state of the art internet access as well as a Smartboard and LCD projector. Each teacher has a desktop PC for instructional needs. Our Ag/FACS and lunchroom is what we hope to update in the next phase of capital improvements. Teachers who may need newer computers to accommodate their students have access to the media center in which they can use the computer lab. Students use this technology to assist them in their learning environment. Administrators use technology like INOW and Testtrax to monitor student achievement. We have added Compass Learning software to help in remediation of students for the AHSGE and ARMT. All teacher computers have been updated to support the newest operating systems available to the school system. Some student computer will need be replaced to bring all systems up to date. has a total of 300+ students, in grades 9-12, in a predominantly Caucasian community. Ninety-five percent of our students are Caucasian with five percent African American. Our staff consist of approximately 26 certified and 14 non-certified employees, with twelve of the twenty-six certified employees holding a Master's Degree or above. SY 2013-2014 Page 3

The mission of is to produce motivated, life-long learners who can apply basic skills to become productive citizens in an ever-changing environment. This mission will be accomplished by providing students with a broad-based, challenging curriculum with an environment conducive to learning instructed by a staff of qualified, motivated role models. To enhance the development of the whole child, we recognize that desirable relationships must exist among administration, faculty, students, parents, support personnel, and the community. Notable Achievements and Areas of Improvement Describe the school's notable achievements and areas of improvement in the last three years. Improvement Planning Process Improvement Planning Process Describe the process used to engage a variety of stakeholders in the development of the institution's improvement plan. Include information on how stakeholders were selected and informed of their roles, and how meetings were scheduled to accommodate them. We have formed a committee of faculty, administrator and parents to participate and provide feedback in the progress planning process. This committee meets throughout the year. For example, during the summer of 2013, the school leadership team (including parent members) reviewed the 2012-2013 Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) to assess the implementation strategies and the degree in which identified objectives had been met. This information was shared with all the staff and interested parents. These stakeholders provided feedback that was considered and implemented. The committee reconvient in August 2013 to disaggregate standarized test data, Pride surveydata, School Incident Report data, Educate Alabama data, and all other local data. This information was shared with the school community through parent/comunity leaders and Spanish translator for ELL parent. Describe the representations from stakeholder groups that participated in the development of the improvement plan and their responsibilities in this process. They are all active participants providing feedback on the needs of our school. This information was shared with the school community through parent/community leaders and Spanish translator for ELL parent. Faculty and administrators have access to the improvement plan via the network server and can access it at any time. One hundred percent of teachers surveyed agreed that the number one need associated with our technology infrastructure is school wide wireless internet access for teachers, administrators, and students. Another need is regular maintenance of current technology systems. This information comes from a recent faculty technology survey that was conducted within the school as well as the Alabama Technology Transform 2020 Survey that was conducted. Each School Technology Coordinator is asked to use data tools to collect data that, once analyzed, would allow his/her school to determine the current status of the school technology program, to identify areas of weaknesses, and to develop an Action Plan that would allow each school to improve in those areas. The central office has increased from 100 Mbs to 200 Mbs to aid in this issue. Computer driven courses need to have more computers per student. Some classrooms with projectors need to be mounted in the ceiling. We are also working to add to our course offerings via the use of our ACCESS program. As of 2008 we installed Smartboards/Projectors in the older part of our building. Our current technology inventory and computer to student ratio is one of our strengths (please see Technology Inventory). Student have access to technology to aid in the learning process. One hundred percent of teachers surveyed agreed that the number one need associated with our technology. A additional survey was conduct via faculty email requesting a response to our technology needs. The over whelming response was school wide wifi for faculty and students. The second most frequent response was simply general, and frequent maintenance of current technology systems. One hundred percent of teachers surveyed agreed that the number one need associated with our technology Professional Learning Program is teacher/administrator technology training and availability to technology based instructional tools. According to our school wide technology survey 50% of our teachers routinely or frequently use technology when appropiate. In addition to the use of technology, 75% of techers routinely or frequently engage students in the use of technology. This software allows teacher to maintain a grade book, lesson plan, student attendance, discipline. Teachers and parents also have access to this information. Another need indicated by the school wide survey was 58% agreed we do NOT have sufficient digital devices and tools to effectively integrate technology into our teaching.
