Scholarship Application and Eligibility Requirements (TRADE SCHOOL/COLLEGE APPLICATION) Any current vocational/trade school or college student, whose parent(s), legal guardian, or grandparent is employed by a member of PWCA. The applicant must already be a full or part time student in an academic institution of higher education, continuing in the Fall of 2016. The applicant must have at least one semester of grades from trade/vocational school or college. This scholarship is not available to current high school students. The enrollment may be in any curriculum for any number of years. This may be a four-year college, community college or trade school anywhere in the United States. The amount of the scholarship is $2,000.00 and it is a one-time award. How do I apply? Complete the application forms in accordance with the instructions and send to the PWCA office at the above-referenced address. How will the application be judged? Selections will be based on the general worthiness of the application. The PWCA Committee will consider academics, extra-curricular activities, goals, etc. The committee may also, at its discretion, consider need-based or special circumstances. Applications are assigned a number upon receipt with the first page of identifying information separated and sealed until the scholarship committee has reviewed the essays and the final selection is made. Only the winning number will be disclosed to identify the award recipient. In the event there is a tie for the winner, the committee will decide by reviewing the winners applications only. The committee will rescore and select one winner. What must accompany the application? Applications are assigned a number upon receipt with the first page of identifying information separated and sealed until the scholarship committee has reviewed and the final selection is made. recipient. All applications must be returned along with a transcript of high school grades through the most current period in college or vocational/trade school. How can I obtain information? All applications must be received in the PWCA office no later than March 31, 2016. The award winner will be notified no later than May 1 st. All decisions are final and payment will be made to the institution of choice. The PWCA Scholarship Committee will consider special circumstances/need; but the Committee will not make its determination solely on this option. Any reference to the applicant s name, sex, race, religion, or address will be removed prior to being presented to the scholarship committee.

Describe any work experience. Optional special circumstances or need based on family income. ESSAY Submit essay on the following topic in 350 words or less. It is very apparent the country s infrastructure is in need of a major overhaul. Now, more than ever, Federal, State, and Local governments are in agreement that aging sewer and water lines need rehabilitation or replacement. With this in mind, public works contractors will need to have the employees in place to handle the anticipated work.
