2010-2011 EQUIVALENCY GUIDE: EVALUATION SYMBOLS Numbered courses-courses that have exact Texas State equivalents are assigned the four-digit number used by Texas State. In the Texas State numbering system, the first digit represents the level of the course, the second digit indicates the semester hours, and the third and fourth numbers are departmental identification codes. (Elective credit non-advanced)-this designation indicates that the course is transferable, but Texas State does not offer an equivalent course. courses may be used for any general lower-division elective that is not course or discipline specific. courses from two-year colleges may not be used to satisfy advanced hour requirements. Students should contact their academic advisor to determine how these courses will apply toward their degree at Texas State. ACT (Activity)-This designation is given for physical fitness and wellness activity courses. NT (Non-transferable)-No credit is accepted for admission, grade point average or degree purposes. (Technical & Vocational)-Courses evaluated as do not transfer and are not used for admission or grade point average purposes. Although normally not applicable toward a degree at Texas State, some courses may be accepted in certain degree programs. Students may request their academic advisor review their course work.
