INTRODUCTION The South African Nursing Council (SANC) established in terms of section 2 of Nursing Act, 1978( Act no 50 of 1978) repealed by Nursing Act, 2005 ( Act no 33 of 2005) Exist as a juristic person Objects Serve and protect the public Set the standards of nursing education and practice Promote the provisioning of nursing services Advice Minister on matters pertaining to nursing Excellence in professionalism and advocacy for health care users 3
