Foralongtimenow,theDangarIslandcommunityhashadinsufficientoptionsforthesafeandreliableberthingofsmall commutervessels.solutionshavebeeninvestigatedsince1979wheniananddeniseforrest,onbehalfofagroupof residents,wrotetohornsbyshirecouncil(hsc)abouttheuseoftinniesforcommuting.in1995anotherattemptwas undertaken,thistimethroughthedangarislandleague(dil)whenterrydorroughwaspresident.neitherattemptto raisefundingfromthehornsbyshirecouncilwassuccessful. Inlate2009,islandresidentsagainapproachedtheLeaguetoseeifaviablecommutertinnieberthingfacilitysimilarto thebrooklynmooringco,op(bmc)couldbeestablishedondangarisland.sincethen,thedilsub,committeehasbeen workingtoexaminealltheoptionsandtheirimpactsontheisland.thisgrouphasregularlyaddressedthecommunity throughmulletmailarticles,manypublicmeetings,newslettermailings,andemailsaswellastheleague swebsite. Asaresultofthiswork,theDangarIslandMooringCo,operativeCommittee(DIMC)nowhasafully,developedproposal forasmall,vesselmooringfacilitysituatedoffthepublicwharf.
