The final decision on which module options a successful candidate will follow will be made by the Institute in consultation with the candidate before the start of the session. Below is a brief introduction to a selection of each module: RBP020L003A or S Management Research Methods Assessment: coursework [30%], exam (2 hours) [70%] This module will give the student an understanding of the theory and practice of quantitative and qualitative research methods in business, management, marketing and information systems. The module is commenced in the first term of the programme to provide the essential transferable research skills required to succeed in a Masters level programme in management. The student will be equipped to undertake work with the class exercises and individual assignments at Masters Level, and to complete an individual research dissertation with a strategic management focus as a major component of the MBA programme, or a specific speciality as a major component of the MSc Programme. This module includes the essential theory and methods of qualitative and quantitative approaches, descriptive statistics and statistical inference, applied to the analysis of research data. RBP020L020S International Capital Markets and Banking Assessment: portfolio investment exercise [100%] The module develops student knowledge of international finance and gives an appreciation of the problems and challenges facing bankers, policy makers, regulators and investors in financial markets. The module will enable students to develop their understanding by an investment portfolio exercise which is designed to develop their financial judgement and enhance their appreciation of the role and limitations of portfolio theory. The module will provide a wider historical perspective and economic context for those who want to pursue a career in international finance. RBP020L021A International Economic Environment and Marketing Assessment: individual multi-part report (3500 words) This module provides perspectives on the external economic environment in which international organizations operate and provides a basis for assessing and evaluating marketing decisions. Key topics covered include: key concepts in economics, economics of the environment, global economic development, business entry models as

well as elements of the Marketing Mix. The assessment will enable economic and marketing concepts to be integrated and presented in a single report. RBP020L022A International Financial Management Assessment: in-class test (1.5 hours) [25%]; idividual analysis of a case, scenario or other published financial data (up to 2500 words) [75%] The module provides the theoretical structure for an understanding of the operations of the financial function of international organisations. It provides both understanding and practical application of key theories which underpin financial decisions in an international business. The following essential parts of financial management are considered in an international context: (1) the investment decision; (2) the financing decision; (3) value creation and the dividend decision; (4) risk management. RBP020L023A International Management and Human Resource Management Assessment: group presentation [20%], individual essay [60%]*, reflective portfolio on skills development [20%][* MBA students only] The increasing influence of international trade and the corresponding increase in demand for suitably qualified managers is forcing organisations to consider the effective management of people from an international perspective. In today s world, multinational operations have become the norm for many business organisations. Possessing internationally applicable management skills, especially in human resource management, have become an essential qualification for business leaders and managers of the 21st Century. The emerging business scenario makes global and inter cultural working an imminent reality. The module aims to develop and promote the students analytical skills, creativity and independent thinking about the contribution that Organisational Behaviour and HRM can make to organisational performance, particularly in the context of continuous change and the increasing globalisation of business and management practice. The module has strong links with the Managerial and Personal Development module in which management and personal skills are developed. RBP020L012 Entrepreneurship Assessment: group presentation [40%], individual Business Plan [60%] Entrepreneurship is now seen as a positive force for economic development in virtually all economies. Organisations from a wide range of sectors, sizes and styles expect post graduate managers to demonstrate enterprise and entrepreneurial skills. In an increasingly competitive and global environment the ability to innovate and manage risk and return is a highly prized skills-set. This module is designed to provide an insight into the nature of entrepreneurship, along with an exploration and development of students' own entrepreneurial potential within an international business context. The module focuses on two main themes. The first encourages students to investigate and experience the processes involved in creativity and innovation, to generate and assess entrepreneurial ideas. The second immerses students in the practical elements of enterprise in multiple contexts such as new business start-up, corporate entrepreneurship, social enterprise, and international entrepreneurship. RBP020L014S Managing Ethics and Professional Issues Assessment: student-led validation [10%], individual report [40%], unseen 'examination[50%] International organisations, companies and their managers are under pressure to act in a more socially responsible and sustainable manner. Changing social attitudes and values have made organisations question their obligations towards their direct stakeholders, as well as to society. Issues such as: unfair treatment;

corporate image and reputation; sustainable development; as well as many new complex ethical issues related to IT and the Internet, globalisation and so on, are posing managers difficult questions. This module aims to engage students in the critical exploration of the management of business in this international context, enabling them to broaden their basic knowledge of management and the ethical and social issues likely to impact on their practice as professional managers. Adopting a personal inquiry, action research approach, it is designed to enable students to identify the choices, opportunities, demands and constraints likely to be placed on them as managers in international management and to explore and critically analyse the dilemma between values espoused and the actual values in use. The module will consider issues of personal and professional integrity, ethical management in the management and leadership role, ethical issues in organisations and the professions, as well as corporate social responsibility. RBP020L025S Managing Projects Assessment: coursework [100%] Project management is an important organisational activity concerned with the planning and management of resources to deliver the required project outcome within defined quality, time and cost constraints. This module seeks to equip students with essential knowledge and key skills to conceptualise, plan and manage projects successfully. RBP020L028 Current Research in Accounting Assessment: reflective research journal in the form of fortnightly written assignments (approximately 1-2 pages) [35%], essay (5000 words) [65%] This module provides students with an overview of current issues and ideas in accounting. Given the focus on specific accounting issues, such as regulation, ethics, accounting theory, accounting history, gender, language and research, this course extends students, who have studied accounting previously, but assumes no prior technical knowledge; it is thus appropriate for students new to accounting. Ethical issues are embedded throughout the module, so that students can understand, identify, and evaluate fundamental principles of ethics. The module explores historical developments in accounting and accounting theory, and identifies current issues and challenges facing accounting today. RBP060L001Y Dissertation Assessment: academic dissertation (16000-18000 words) [100%] The dissertation provides students with the opportunity to apply the understanding, knowledge, analytical and conceptual tools and personal skills gained from the taught courses to an in-depth study of a specific issue or problem in the field of international management, marketing and information systems. It thus consolidates the learning that has already taken place as well as developing the capability of the student to undertake and complete a research project. It can thus be seen as the culmination of the entire programme.
