Introduction Center on Halsted and Howard Brown Health Center are pleased to offer this resource directory of long-term care and supportive living facilities in the city of Chicago. he senior living communities listed herein participated in a survey that asked about the policies and programs they have in place that protect and support the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender () residents. hey were also asked about cultural competency trainings their staff may have received and their outreach efforts to the community. A summary of each facility s responses is provided in the form of a check box list below the facility s name and contact information. he survey included questions regarding policies, services, and staff training pertaining to residents gender identity separately from similar questions pertaining to residents sexual orientation. he table includes two separate columns ( Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and ransgender ) to capture which group the facility s policies, services, and staff trainings include.
he senior living communities listed in this resource guide are not explicitly endorsed by Center on Halsted or Howard Brown Health Center. It is important to meet with long-term care and supportive living providers in person to find one you feel comfortable with and best meets your needs. At this time, we have only included senior living communities that are within Chicago city limits. We sought participation from long-term care and supported living providers that accept Medicaid. We did not approach private pay, assisted living facilities, or any senior living communities in the suburbs outside of Chicago. We are hopeful that this resource guide will continue to grow.
