11 Why Handicare? We are driven by a passion to make everyday life easier. For those with mobility and accessibility challenges, as well as those who care for them. It s been that way with us from the start in 1986. That s when Tom Myklebust and two other wheelchair users, all suffering from a paralysing injury, set up Rullestolekspertene (the Wheelchair experts), after their chance meeting at a Norwegian rehabilitation centre. Their vision was to develop and deliver high-quality custom-made wheelchairs for disabled people. To increase their independence and quality of life, and truly make a difference. Today Handicare, as the company is called since 1995, is a leading healthcare company and Tom continues to be an inspiration to all of us working with him. And a living example of what Handicare is all about.
