Advanced Management Series Accreditation This document is designed as a guide to students for the accreditation of the ATMS Programmes by the University of Derby. It answers questions on both programme accreditation and the University Qualifications that can be gained. In partnership with

Part A Frequently Asked Questions (See Part B for Assessment Requirements) 1) Can I still undertake a standard Academy ATMS Programme as normal without undertaking the additional assessment required for the University Awards? Yes there is no obligation to undertake the additional assessments at all. You will still gain all the benefits of these highly successful programmes. 2) Are there additional Fees payable for University of Derby Assessment In general, your normal course fees cover the cost of university assessment, however, there are additional fees if you ask for individual programmes to be assessed for university credits (see below), rather than follow the standard assessment time lines and processes. 3) What does Accreditation Mean? Accreditation means that the programmes have been through a rigorous accreditation process and that the programmes are periodically audited by the University of Derby to ensure both quality and rigor. In addition, successful student assessment means that University qualifications / awards and credits can be obtained for each programme. 4) What Qualifications will I Gain? On completion of the full assessment requirements, you will gain a Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Management form the University of Derby. 5) Are the Qualifications Internationally Recognised? The Post Graduate Certificate is awarded by Derby University which is a major UK University, and carries all the benefits of a university award, including the award of University of Derby Credits which may count towards further study either with the University of Derby or elsewhere (subject to acceptance by another educational institution). The programmes were awarded full accreditation by the University of Derby in October 2011. 6) What is the academic level of the programmes? The ATMS programmes have been assessed to be at University Level 7 1 st year Post Graduate level 7) How many University credits is my programme worth? ATMS programmes are worth 20 University credits each ( Mini MBA, Effective Strategies, LTE Focus, and Customer Focus in ). An additional 20 credits can be gained by successful completion of a Work Based Project. 60 credits are required for a University of Derby Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Management. By comparison, 180 credits are normally required for a post graduate Masters degree. More information on credits can be found here: http://www.derby.ac.uk/pas/derby/credit accumulation

8) How do I gain my University credits? To gain your University credits you need to successfully complete the assessment required for the particular programme you are studying ( Mini MBA, Effective Strategies, LTE Focus, or Customer Focus in ). This will include the end of programme team presentation followed by completion of the on going Academy Competency Development Journal (CDJ). The CDJ has been designed to be completed in the 8 weeks following the related programme and provides an opportunity to consolidate and apply the competencies gained on the programme itself. 9) How do I get my Postgraduate Certificate? By gaining 60 credits on Academy ATMS programmes, you can obtain a Post Graduate Certificate from the University of Derby. You will need to enrol on TWO ATMS programmes (you don t have to do this at the same time as the credits will be accrued individually on each programme) and complete the Work Based Project. The usual route is to undertake the Mini MBA and ONE of the focused ATMS programmes (Effective Strategies, LTE Focus, and Customer Focus in ) and in addition, the Work Based Project. You will need to successfully complete the assessment required for the particular programmes you enrol on. A full list is shown at Part B of this document, but assessment will include the end of programme team presentations, the CDJ and the Work Based Project. Course fees include the university assessment. Mini MBA Effective Strategies or Customer Focus in or LTE Focus Certificate in Continuing Professional Development in Advanced Management Work Based Project Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Management 10) What can I do with my University credits? You may obtain a Certificate in Continuing Professional Development in Advanced from the University of Derby by accumulating 40 University credits from Academy ATMS programmes. (E.g. Mini MBA + one other). You may obtain a Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Management from the University of Derby by accumulating 60 University credits from Academy ATMS programmes. These 60 University credits include the work based project. You are also able to transfer these Level 7 University credits onto another programme at a different university (subject to acceptance by that University).

11) When will I be awarded my Post Graduate Certificate? The University Postgraduate Certificate is awarded after the full assessment has been completed. All assessments have to be marked and validated by the University of Derby. Time scales may vary, please contact us for up to date information. 12) What can I do with my University credits? You are able to use your University Credits towards suitable programmes of study provided by the University of Derby (subject to acceptance for the programme being considered), or transfer your University Credits onto another programme at a different university (subject to acceptance by that University). The University Credit scheme is run by the University and not by Academy. More information on the University Credit scheme can be found here: http://www.derby.ac.uk/pas/derby/credit accumulation 13) If I enrol for just one ATMS programme, will I still receive my Post Graduate Certificate from the University of Derby? No our individual ATMS programmes are worth 20 Credits (60 are needed for the University Post Graduate Certificate). You will still be awarded a Academy certificate of completion though. 14) If I enrol for just one ATMS programme (or two) without the Work Based Project, will I be able to use the University Credits? Credits are awarded by the University of Derby, so you will need to complete the assessments required for your programme to gain the 20 credits, including the end of programme team presentation and the Competency Development Journal (see Part B of this document). If you successfully complete the assessment for TWO ATMS programmes but do not take the Work Based Project, this can then lead to the award of a university Certificate in Continuing Professional Development in Advanced (please note, this is not the same as the full University Post Graduate Certificate). Please note: there is an additional fee for credit assessment for individual ATMS programmes (but assessment for either the Post Graduate Certificate or Certificate in Continuing Professional Development is included in the course fees). 15) Can I enrol on a single ATMS programme and then enrol on the additional programmes at a later date in order to gain the University Post Graduate Certificate and full 60 Credits? Yes this is the usual route that students will take. However, it must be reiterated that all assessment must be completed for each programme undertaken in order to gain the full University Awards.

For Previous Academy Mini MBA or ATMS Students: 16) I have already completed a Mini MBA (or other ATMS programme). Can I still get a University Post Graduate Certificate and 60 credits (or Certificate in Continuing Professional Development and 40 Credits)? Yes. Simply by completing a Competence Development Journal for the programme you have already completed and enrolling as normal onto one of the additional ATMS programmes, followed by the Work Based Project (for the Post Graduate Certificate). There is NO additional fee for the additional CDJ assessment. For Training Managers: 17) We have a requirement for customised or company specific training. Can our students still benefit from the University of Derby accreditation and awards? In general, yes, but it depends on the nature of the customisation and training. Please call us to discuss requirements, options and pricing.

Part B Assessment Requirements (to gain a University award) Academy Distance Learning Assessment For the Academy standard ATMS programmes, assessment is solely based on a final team presentation. All participants are fully briefed on joining the programmes, but details can also be provided on request. University of Derby ATMS Assessment Academy carries out all assessment, with moderation and periodic inspection by the University of Derby. As well as the final team presentation, there is additional assessment criteria required for award of the University Post Graduate Certificate or Certificate in Continuing Professional Development: 1) Mini MBA (20 Credits) 2) Effective Strategies (20 Credits) 3) LTE Focus (20 Credits) 4) Customer Focus (20 Credits) 5) Work Based Project (20 Credits) Completion of the Work Based Project This is a comprehensive portfolio of work that is required for the full award of the Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Management. This exact format may change from time to time depending on current University of Derby guide lines. Please contact us for current information if required. Successful completion of the Mini MBA along with one additional ATMS Series programme will result in the award of Certificate in Continuing Professional Development in Advanced from the University of Derby (and 40 Credits). The addition of a work based project can result in the award of a Postgraduate Certificate from the University of Derby (and 60 Credits).
