CUMBERLAND COUNTY COLLEGE Advanced Placement for Licensed Practical Nurses LPN Transition Option A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), licensed in the state of New Jersey is eligible to enter the Registered Nurse (RN) Option at Cumberland County College, with advanced placement. Those LPN s accepted into LPN to RN program and successfully completing the criteria will be awarded credits for the first semester of the Cumberland County College RN Program and will be entered into the second semester of the RN Program. Admission Procedure: Completion of an LPN to RN Activation Form July 1 - October 1. The Activation Form is available on our website at www.cccnj.edu. The following information must be submitted to the Admissions and Registration Office in a completed packet by October 1 st for consideration of admission to the LPN to RN Program. CCC Admission application (if necessary) LPN to RN Activation Form Official High School transcript with date of graduation or GED scores Proof of current active LPN licensure An official LPN School Transcript Official transcripts from other colleges attended Completion of the ATI LPN STEP admission test (results are valid for 2 years) o This is the only component in your Nursing packet that can be submitted separately. Deadline for submission of the LPN STEP test is Oct 1 st Complete the Accuplacer Test (Basic Skills Placement Test) Note: the test assesses reading, writing, math computation and elementary algebra skills. Deficiencies identified must be remedied prior to admission to the RN Program. Applicants may contact the Success Center 856-691-8600 ext 00 to schedule an appointment to sit for the test. Students are exempt from the Accuplacer if there are passing placement test results from another New Jersey college within the last 5 years or if college transcripts verify successful completion of all required developmental English, Reading, Math classes and eligibility to take Anatomy and Physiology I and EN 101.

Admission Selection Students will be accepted based on a scoring criterion. All program minimum requirements must be met in order to be considered for admission. Minimum requirements High school diploma or high school equivalency certificate (GED) ATI LPN STEP minimum overall score of 70% Completion of all general education courses for the first semester of the Nursing program. (EN101, PY101 and BI106) A&P 1&11 must be taken within 10 years students who s A&Ps are older than 10 years must take BI 210 Pathology. The co-requisite general education courses for the first semester of the Nursing program must be complete before admission is granted for the LPN Transition program. The courses that must be completed with a minimum of a C grade for consideration of the transition option are: EN 101- English Composition PY 101- General Psychology BI 106- Anatomy and Physiology I Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 Scoring Criteria ATI LPN STEP maximum of points 80 or above overall score = points 79-75 overall score = 2 points 74-70 overall score = 1 point Completion of College Course required for admission maximum of points GPA.5 and above = points GPA.4-.0 = 2 points GPA 2.5-2.9 = 1 point Minimum score of 2 is needed for program admission. First choice goes to those students who earn the highest scores. Maximum of 6 points may be earned.

Students who retake any LAB SCIENCE course may retake the course once for consideration. Only one retake of any of the four (4) lab sciences courses is permitted. Students who retake two or more courses, the original grade is the one that will be submitted for consideration. Admission Procedure for Graduates of CCC PN Academic Certificate Program Students graduating with a.0 GPA or better from the CCC PN Academic Certificate program are exempt from taking the ATI LPN STEP. ALL other criteria must be met. Students must apply to the LPN Transition within two (2) years of graduating in order to maintain exemption status. The information mentioned above in the admissions procedure must be submitted to the Enrollment Services Office by Oct 1 st for consideration of admission to the LPN Transition Option. Minimum requirements Overall GPA of 2.5 in CCC PN courses and college courses Successful completion of NU 112 over the Winter session Eligibility to register for NU 114. For all LPN to RN Transition Applicants The co-requisite general education courses for the first semester of the Nursing program must be complete before admission is granted for the LPN transition program. The courses that must be completed for consideration of the transition option are: EN 101- English Composition PY 101- General Psychology BI 106- Anatomy and Physiology I A&P 1&11 must be taken within 10 years if A&Ps are older than 10 years, student must take BI 210 Pathology. Copy of NJ LPN unencumbered license

Admission Selection All program minimum requirements must be met in order to be considered for admission. Provisional Admission is granted until successful completion of NU112. Candidates not successfully completing NU112 with a C or better are not admitted to NU114. Acceptance Notification The Office of Admissions and Registration will notify students of their conditional acceptance to the LPN transition option by Dec 15 th of each year. Transition Progression An orientation will be scheduled for the students accepted to the LPN Transition Option. Prior to registering for the second semester nursing courses, students accepted into the LPN transition option who are not current CCC PN Academic Certificate (within 2 years) will: Take ATI Step exam unless earning a.0 or better in the PN program courses Complete NU 112. LPN license will allow 7 credits, waiving the need to take NU11. Successful completion of the above will enable the student to enter into the second semester of the RN degree program. Please be advised that the one credit Introduction to Nursing Success (NU 112) must be taken in the Winter session prior to NU114

Listed below are the requirements for the A.A.S. Nursing Degree. Note: All program co-requisite courses must be completed before registering for the next nursing courses. Students not completing the courses before or with the designated nursing courses will not be permitted to progress in the nursing courses until the requirement is completed. For nursing courses, a minimum grade of 78 is necessary to achieve a C. - For progression in the program a passing grade of 90 is needed on the medical dosage calculation exam given in NU 11 and NU 210.

LPN STEP ------ NURSING PRE-ENTRANCE EXAM FOR THE LPN TO RN CHALLENGE The LPN STEP is the examination being utilized for entrance into the LPN to RN Nursing Program at Cumberland County College. This Exam is a computer-based test that requires the following registration procedures: Access the website www.atitesting.com to register to take the LPN STEP exam, click on Online Store, then LPN Step. At that time, the assessment fee of $45.00 is due, payable by VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover. When registration is completed, you will receive a confirmation email. Please print this email and have it with you on your test date. If you need assistance with the procedure or verification of your registration, please call ATI customer service at 1-800-667-751. Please note: Once you have registered to take the test, all fees are non-refundable and non transferable. If you do not take the test on your registered date, you must reschedule with ATI and repay. If no dates are available or registration is closed, you will forfeit your test session and fee. For study material and practice exams, please visit the following website: https://www.atitesting.com/solutions/prenursingschool/lpnstep.aspx The LPN STEP may be retaken after a 90-day waiting period for a maximum of times annually. Test scores are good for 2 years. Registration for LPN STEP will close 48 hours prior to exam date. Testing will be administered in the CASS Testing Center 20 seats maximum 2014 Examination Dates and Testing Times: Monday, July 7 9:0 am Wednesday, July 2 4:00 pm Monday, August 11 9:0 am Wednesday, August 1 4:00 pm Monday, September 8 9:0 am Wednesday, September 10 4:00 pm Monday, October 6 9:0 am Wednesday, October 8 4:00 pm Monday, October 27 9:0 am Wednesday, October 29 4:00 pm Check in time for the exam is 15 minutes prior to test time. Please bring your ATI user name and password. It is also required to show two forms of identification -- one must be a picture ID. You will not be admitted without the proper documents. You should also bring two No. 2 pencils with erasers. Scrap paper will be provided. The test takes approximately hours to complete. Please allow additional time for registration. The activation period for students applying to LPN Challenge beginning Spring 2015 is July 1, 2014 to October 1, 2014. Applicants must submit all documents with activation.
