This Brochure provides information regarding all of the executive programs offered by BAU R&D through BAU Online during the 2014-2015 academic year. ABOUT BAU Online BAU Online is a project of BAU Research and Development. Our Online Programs are specifically designed for those who wish to build their professional portfolios but are constrained by time, location and the demands of their on going jobs. BAU is revolutionizing Education in Africa by implementing a unique Integrative Model of learning to maximize the potential of online and mobile learning. BAU Online partners with leading global institutions to create flexible curriculums designed for the African market, thereby providing quality content and high end experience. Our Entrepreneurship and Innovation program coupled with other programs, provide students with the skills to build teams, build ideas and incubate them into businesses. Our Senior Executive programs help leaders in organizations hone their management skills and adjust to the growing market in emerging economies. BAU Online FAQ Entry Requirements: As professional programs, our courses are targeted at Professionals Students may apply for the Junior and Mid-Level Programs. Senior Level Programs are designed for Senior Company Executives Only. There is a need for a reliable internet access either on desktop or mobile. The student needs to be 17 years old and above. Costs: The Tuition for each program is shown in eachprograms Page Application fees are waived Fees can be paid online or via bank transfer. See for more information. Location: As an Online program, Students are required to use the BAU Online platform The instructor of your program may decide to fix physical meetings for at most, once through a program. Examinations may be conducted Online or at a designated center. BAU ONLINE Brochure 2014 5

Mode of Study / Duration: 3hr Classes Once a week. Online / Hybrid. All Programmes at BAU Online run for a 12 Week Period. Students are expected to complete a minimum of a 36 Course Hours. Scheduled Seminars or Workshops will be set up as part of the Program Assessment: Students get one Assignment every week, of which the best 10 will be used for grading. There will be 4 Quizzes and One Final Examination. The instructor for each program may decide to add additional coursework, depending on the requirements of the program. // Corporate Diplomacy: External And Internal Program Program Overview This Program provides a consolidated insight on how to manage external and internal risks and corporate relationships. It reinforces the need to create a lasting relationship with the external community and stakeholders to protect the long-term success of an organization. It also teaches corporate leaders how to create a bilateral relationship with internal stakeholders such as the board of directors and the senior management. It teaches corporate leaders how to diffuse external and internal tensions and solidify the organizations stronghold in an emerging market. Companies in Emerging Markets are continuously faced with a unprecedented risks and competitive threats, the external image of an organization is important to maintain and in order to do so, organizations have to develop a integrative work relationship with its community through engaging partnerships with community leaders, governments, other businesses, NGO's and other stakeholders that will enable them avoid these risks and if they occur, implement an affirmative action that will resolve such crisis adequately. It is also important for an organization to keep its internal stakeholders such as its board of directors in a streamlined corporate governance where the roles of they key players are clearly defined and conflicts are resolved adequately. Program Outline Session 1: Corporate Diplomacy Introduction to how you will build the capabilities that can help you safeguard your firm s reputation and value, making the development of stakeholder relationships a key strategic endeavor throughout the organization. Session 2: Global Leadership Focuses on how a senior executive can strengthen their team s abilities to collaborate and communicate across organizational silos and cultural and geographical borders Session 3: Crisis Communication Students will learn techniques on how to influence public perception and effectively communicate during a business crisis. Know who should be at the podium when time is of the essence and your corporate reputation is on the line. Session 4: Stakeholder Mapping and Analysis Students will be lead to visualize the often-complex networks of partners, competitors, clients and government agencies, and use that information for competitive advantage. Session 5: Emotional Intelligence Students will discover why this type of intelligence is often more important than technical and cognitive ability, and how it relates to improving outcomes in stakeholder relations. // Digital Journalism Program Program Overview This provides a professional level of study and practical tools for beginner and experienced editors, writers, journalists, print and broadcast publishers looking to take the next step into merging traditional journalistic skills with the speedy content management and mastery of the everincreasing variety of digital media outlets available on the Internet. Today s 24-hour news cycles, blogs, wikis, and social media outlets have fundamentally transformed how news content is reported, produced and distributed. This cultural shift toward the immediacy of online news has contracted the journalism field, displacing many traditional journalists and opening up new professional pathways. Program Outline Week 1/2: Journalism Entrepreneurship This module will teach students how to explore creative and commercial possibilities which are endless online. Students will learn to create and manage their own innovative projects online, or brand themselves online as professional journalists who can work with traditional media companies. Week 3/4: Reporting Beats in the Digital Age This course focuses on the advent of digital journalism, and on new opportunities for journalists to become more than reporters, but also to serve as subject matter experts and how to develop a beat, court sources, deepen your knowledge, build your platform, and ultimately, how to get your online content seen by the widest audience possible. Week 5/6: Transmedia Storytelling: Engaging your Audience in the Digital Age This course will lead students to examine the role and structure of narrative in audience engagement, and how this dynamic new trend in media content development impacts consumers. Program Outline Week 7/8: Social Media for Public Relations This course includes 5 practical modules of study that will empower PR professionals at all levels in their career to implement social media in their work, and be innovation leaders in their organization, Designed to address the specific needs of today s public relations professional in a new media environment. Week 9/10: Personal Branding for Journalism This course teach students how to set themselves apart in the crowded space of online and digital journalism. Students will learn how to create unique personal brands that will appeal to employers, contractors and businesses wishing to take on independent campaigns and promotions. Week 11: Blogging for Business This hands-on course will teach you why blogging is important, how to navigate around WordPress, how to create and maintain a successful business blogging campaign, how to choose and write the material that will best suit your client or business, how to manage workflow, how to post efficiently and effectively, why you should respond to comments, and why it s necessary to incorporate social media posting into your blogging strategy. // Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program Program Overview This program is designed for the study of all aspects of starting a business venture. The students will recognize and find their potential for creating a business venture or marketable product/ idea. Our students will be required to examine the planning, organizing, directing and controlling functions of operating a business as the entrepreneur assuming all the responsibilities and risks involved. The students will use their creativity in corporate development and markets analysis to prepare financials and develop a business plan as the end product of this course. // Global Marketing Program Program Overview This program covers the systematic approach companies need to put in place to grow into a global market by understanding marketing plans, qualitative and quantitative research, consumer psychology, product positioning and strategy, pricing, packaging, brand equity, advertising, the marketing mix, customer value, and business-to-business that will better position them in the global market. Through it all, students will learn what makes customers in new markets buy what you re selling with very little brand presence and perhaps, an existing competition. The course will cover the role and importance of global marketing to an organization; analysis of the global marketing environment; the principles of global marketing management, including policy setting, planning, strategy formulation, and the international marketing mix.
