Set restriction for editing a document Assign restriction on editing all or part of a document Go to File tab click Info click Protect Document click Restrict Editing In the Restrict Formatting and Editing pane, do the following: Under Editing restrictions section, select Allow only this type of editing in the document check box select a desired restriction from the dropdown list Under Start enforcement section, click on Yes, Start Enforcing Protection button Last edited: 2012-07-09 3

Use digital signature on the document Digital signature marks a document as final, and signs it to ensure that no other user has altered the document since it was signed Insert digital signatures Click where to place a block for user to sign on the document Go to Insert tab Text group click Signature Line In the Microsoft Word dialog box, click OK button Last edited: 2012-07-09 5

In the Document Inspector dialog box, do the following: Select any desired options check boxes Click Inspect Before click Remove All the fix the problems displayed in the document, it s necessary to manually review the document for problems listed in the inspection results because some changes cannot be undone. Finalize and protect a document with password Finalize the document When a document is marked as final, typing, editing commands, and proofing marks are disabled or turned off and the document becomes read-only. The Mark as Final command help to communicate that the sharing document is a completed version as well as prevent reviewers or readers from making inadvertent changes to the document Go to File tab click Info click Protect Document button Select Mark as Final to make the document read-only Set a password for a document Although Mark as Final prevent other people to edit the document, the Encrypt with Password ensure that the document will be protected by password before opening the document. Email a document Go to File tab click Save & Send select Send Using E-mail choose one of the following options: Send as Attachment - opens an e-mail message with a copy of the file in its original file format attached.(editable version) Send as PDF - opens an e-mail message with a copy of the file in.pdf format attached. (read-only version) Send as XPS - opens an e-mail message with a copy of the file in.xps format attached (web browser version) Enter the recipient(s), edit the subject line and message body as necessary, and then click Send.
