Enterprise Roadmap

Kansas Individual Data on Students KSDE implemented student level data collechon in 2005-2006 school year via KIDS. Assigns state IDs to PK- 12 students to track students as they move from school to school maintain longitudinal data regarding each student links student s info across systems to eliminate data redundancy & provide more complete picture of the student

Kansas Individual Data on Students KIDS data is the basis for state and federal funding state and federal reporhng state assessments school accountability Also used for Direct CerHficaHon KBI Missing Children KFIT Interim assessments

Kansas Individual Data on Students Early Childhood programs require state student idenhfiers. 4 year old at risk since 2005-06 EC Sped (Sec 619, Part B) since 2005-06 Outcomes: Part C (Infant/Toddler) since 2006-07 Parents as Teachers since 2009-10 Head Start, Community Preschool 2009-10 StarHng this year all EC Program parhcipants are included in end- of- year data collechon days in membership days in afendance parhcipahon in other programs (i.e., SES, Migrant, Homeless)

Enterprise Data System IniHal development was a three year (2006-2009) project Integrates educahon data in an enterprise data warehouse. Provides access to stakeholders through business intelligence tools to support effechve decision making and reporhng using longitudinal data.

Unify Systems to Drive Systemic Change (2010-2013) Expand and link P20 data system TransiHon postsecondary to K- 12 ID system and expand postsecondary data collechon to private inshtuhons and adult educahon and to collect program complehon data. Collect and integrate workforce data. Expand K- 12 student data collechon system to integrate early childhood, formahve assessment, and behavior data. Unify Systems to Drive Systemic Change (2010-2013) Expand K- 12 data collec?on system to integrate Early Childhood data We have begun development of data collechon systems focused on collechng evaluahon / qualitahve data for specific EC Programs. Four Year Old At- Risk Parents as Teachers Part C Infants & Toddlers Early Childhood Special EducaHon (Sec., 619, Part B) Community Partners: Head Start, Community preschools Requires the KSDE EC Program state staff to define and establish evaluahon instruments and to work with Program providers to submit the data. All data collected will include SSID and will be via web applicahons. We expect to begin collechng this qualitahve data next year.

Unify Systems to Drive Systemic Change (2010-2013) Expand K- 12 data collec?on system to integrate Early Childhood data EvaluaHon instruments will be centered around the School Readiness Framework. Instruments: Four Year Old At- Risk automahng/revising exishng instruments (KS Early Learning Inventory KELI) Parents as Teachers will need to collect data from Parents shll working out how best to do that Part C Infants & Toddlers currently collechng outcome measures, but will align data with other collechons Early Childhood Special EducaHon (Sec., 619, Part B) - currently collechng outcome measures, but will align data with other collechons Community Partners: Head Start, Community preschools automahng/revising exishng instruments (KS Early Learning Inventory KELI- 4R)

Data Connections What needs to be considered in terms of connec?ng the Birth to 5 data system being created with the K- 12 longitudinal data system? Data elements for linking Making the link Data Standards Data Quality Data Governance

Data Connections Why are you/ksde interested in what happens to children prior to the start of Kindergarten? Determine and support the effechveness of Early Childhood programs in the P20 conhnuum

Data Connections Why are you/ksde interested in what happens to children prior to the start of Kindergarten? Address important policy queshons: 1. Challenges What are the biggest challenges in this work? Data elements for linking Making the link Data Standards Data Quality Data Governance IntegraHng/addressing the objechves/priorihes of the various programs while shll collechng state data. Sustainability
