The Tampa Bay Chapter of the National Black MBA Association is pleased to present The Max Oligario Visionary Scholarship in the amount of $1000.00 for the 2014-2015 academic school year to a college student that is pursuing a degree in business within the Tampa Bay Area. The scholarship will be applied towards tuition and books. The check will be mailed from the Tampa Bay Chapter s NBMBAA office and made payable to the institution and the student. A copy of the check and award letter will be mailed to the recipient for their records. Application packets must be emailed no later than Friday, October 31 st, 2014 at 11: 59pm EST. Facsimiles and incomplete packets will not be accepted. Notifications of scholarships will be sent to the award recipient(s) via US Postal mail by November 10 th, 2014. Finalists will present their case analysis the evening of Wednesday, November 19 th, 2014. APPLICATION PACKET CONTENT Scholarship Application The Tampa Bay Chapter of the National Black MBA Association s The Max Oligario Visionary Scholarship is open for applicants and may be acquired from the chapter s website. The scholarship application must be typed. Letter of Interest One (1) page letter of interest regarding the scholarship will only be accepted Reference Letters Two (2) non-family member academic and/or professional character reference letters with the original signature will only be accepted. OFFICIAL ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT Applicants must request an academic transcript (unofficial or official) from their most recent school, university, and or college. Transcript must be included in the packet. CONFIRMATION OF ACCEPTANCE LETTER(S) Applicants who have been accepted into a graduate business school program with an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation must provide an official acceptance letter. Acceptance letters must be included in the packet. CASE STUDY PRESENTATION Each applicant will be required to submit a power point presentation regarding the case study synopsis listed below. CASE SYNOPSIS In 2007, the founding President, Max Oligario, started the Tampa chapter of the National Black MBA association as an interest group with 6 other professionals from various industries. Within several months the chapter was awarded interim chapter status due to its rapidly growing membership. Since then, the chapter has continued to grow membership, create partnerships and strengthen its local presence in the community. One way the chapter has been able to grow is through a social and networking event, The Collective which was started by the Tampa chapter. The Collective is a quarterly event that brings together premier professionals across all industries. It s held in a great location, above the city with spectacular views of the bay and downtown Tampa as its back drop. You are the Vice President of Marketing and report to Jason Grundy, President of the Tampa Bay Chapter, National Black MBA Association. What methods, initiatives and or strategies can you introduce to promote the quarterly event, grow membership and market the Tampa Bay chapter as the premier organization for professionals?
