Once your application is submitted and reviewed you will receive a phone call or e-mail inviting you to attend the next Information/Orientation Session. This is a mandatory session. Information Session All prospective new supply teachers must attend what is commonly called an Information Session. To be invited to the session, all paperwork must have been received prior. The purpose of the session is to explain the supply teaching process in AESD, payroll procedures and the automatic system we use to book supplies (SubFinder). As well, additional support/training is given in certain subject areas by the district s mentors as well as other information that is unique to our district. You will be notified shortly after the session and told when your profile has been set up on SubFinder and that you are now able to accept job opportunities. Teaching Certification All supply teachers must hold a valid New Brunswick Teaching Certificate or approved Local Permit. Applications for Local Permits can be obtained at the Office of the Superintendent. The current fee is $40 and the only payment accepted is by money order addressed to The Minister of Finance. Local Permits are only valid for one school year and therefore must be re-newed each year. Inquiries regarding teaching certification in New Brunswick should be addressed to the Teacher Certification Branch, Department of Education, Fredericton, New Brunswick. Telephone (506) 453-2030. Supply Teacher List The District uses an automated system with a web-based application called SubFinder to manage our supply list. This list is updated regularly throughout the school year. Supply Teachers can go online and mark themselves unavailable if necessary, i.e. out of town, appointments, etc. Please note that casuals who have a teacher s certificate will be called before casuals who posses a local permit. Individuals may be removed from the supply teaching list under the following circumstances: when the employee requests to be removed, the employee receives a contact, their local permit expires or employees abuse the SubFinder system (i.e. never answer calls, constantly make themselves unavailable with reason, etc.).
