Programme Council The work of the Forum is watched over by the Programme Council, appointed by the Institute for Eastern Studies, which consists of leading figures from political, economic, social and scientific circles. Knowledgeable and experienced persons were invited to join its work and decide on the shape of the content and programme of the Forum. They also set the direction for the development and fulfilment of the Forum s mission. 163

Programme Council The work of the Forum is supervised by the Programme Council, appointed by the Institute for Eastern Studies, which consists of leading figures from political, economic, social and scientific circles. Knowledgeable and experienced persons were invited to join its work and decide on the shape of the content and programme of the Forum. They also set the direction for the development and fulfilment of the Forum s mission. The council sets short-term and long-term directions for the Forum s development. It receives and assesses reports, from preparations and the course of the Forum, adopts resolutions on important social, political and economic matters connected with the mission of the Forum, and decides on all issues important for the development of the Forum. Partners of the Forum In organising the Economic Forum, the Institute for Eastern Studies co-operates with the Forum Partners scientific institutions, non-governmental organisations, and companies. The Partners participate actively in shaping the programme of the Forum and contribute their input pertaining to the subject matter and technology in realising the Forum mission. 165

Organizer The organiser of the Economic Forum is the Institute for Eastern Studies. The Forum is the most important and the main project of the Foundation, which conducts also other activities, aimed at the creation of a positive atmosphere of good co-operation in Europe. 167

The Forum is the most important and the main project of the Foundation, which conducts also other activities, aimed at the creation of a positive atmosphere of good co-operation in Europe. The Institute for Eastern Studies (full name: Foundation Institute for Eastern Studies) has, since the beginning of its existence (1993), been active for the benefit of cooperation among the European states, especially those of Central and Eastern Europe. Projects realized at various levels serve the development of political, economic, cultural and scientific contacts among the states of this region. The main undertaking of the Institute for Eastern Studies has been the Economic Forum, which within little more than ten years has become an important and recognized event in Central and Eastern Europe, and beyond. The activities of the Institute for Eastern Studies connected with the organization of the Forum have been supported by the Programme Council, which decides on the Forum s content and programme, as well as setting the direction of its development. Other statutory undertakings carried out by the Institute for Eastern Studies include: organizing international seminars, training courses and study visits, publication of analyses and economic reports, organizing internships for students from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus in leading Polish companies, granting scholarships for talented students from Eastern European countries. Statutory aims realized by the Foundation Institute for Eastern Studies include: propagating social and political education in the service of the democratic future of the Republic of Poland and states located in Central and Eastern Europe, fostering the development of economic and cultural co-operation, co-operation in the field of science and technology and supporting and starting initiatives in these areas, acting for the benefit of co-operation and building trust among states of Central and Eastern Europe, supporting and starting actions for the benefit of a better understanding by citizens and local communities of processes occurring during the transformation of states and centrally-planned economies into democratic states with free-market economies. 168
