Mark Mobach, Ph.., University of Groningen Picture a simulation tool allowing you to see in 3 a newly designed hospital, to taste its atmosphere, and to debate its functionality in terms of strategy, care, privacy, routing, and efficiency. Imagine navigating through this virtual hospital: you ll see patients and staff moving around. You may also decide to change the building real time and discuss its possible consequences. With such a simulation tool a new form of discussion around hospital design could emerge. In a so-called virtual theatre groups can immerse themselves in any design at the University of Groningen. lthough a hospital design has not yet been worked out, visualization of a pharmacy building and moving life-size cardboard cut-outs of pharmacy staff and patients are currently possible. The visit to the virtual theatre will show that a virtual walk is not only fun to do, but also a profitable design activity.

Its healing qualities were believed to result directly from the design of the building. In the 1980s, environmental psychologists found overwhelming proof that architecture can have a major impact on the healing process of hospital patients. This resulted in what became known as vidence ased esign. The rchitecture of Hospitals wants to explore how the design of hospitals can benefit from this approach.. NGINRING & IT What are the latest trends in providing the hospital with clean air, minimizing the risk of bacteriological infection? What does the operating theatre of the future look like? Secure wireless internet connections will completely change the flow of information within and beyond the hospital. How does all this effect the hospital of tomorrow?.
