water Treatment Industries DAILY POWER CONSUMPTION AQUA-NOVA 2000 SEWAGE TREATMENT SYSTEM An Aqua-Nova 2000 sewage treatment system was tested at the residence of Mrs Manning at Currawarna, N.S.W in September 2000. TESTING CRITERIA Energy was metered through a Great Southern Energy supply authority kilowatt-hour meter. IRRIGATION PUMP HYDRAULIC LOADINGS Town water supply only 2 Adults & 2 children being of a minimum age of 12 years Irrigation Requirements 1. Submersible Pump servicing 5 sprays on 450mm risers attached to 50 metres of 25mm poly pipe on level ground 2. Irrigation pump size a 10-metre head submersible type. Flow 4 normal loads of washing 4 separate showers per day The dishwasher was put thru a normal daily wash cycle AERATION PUMP NITTO Aeration pump Model LA-80 that ran continuously for 24 hours in the above Aqua-Nova treatment system, which has been commissioned. RESULTS AERATION PUMP used 1.2 kilowatts of electricity IRRIGATION PUMP used 0.85 kilowatts of electricity. TOTAL ELECTRICITY USED = 2.05 Kilowatt x $0.12 cents per kilowatt hour Under the above criteria this system costs 25 cents PER DAY. This case study was conducted in conjunction with Clearwater Industries and Great Southern Energy. BERNARD NEYLAN DIRECTOR

water Treatment Industries ELECTRICAL INSTRUCTIONS All electrical work must be by an appropriately licensed tradesman in accordance with AS3000, and any local regulatory Authority conditions. The AWTS units must be protected by a dedicated 16-amp 8kV circuit breaker. This device must not be installed in the Earth Leakage Loop. Only a single supply line from the controlling switchboard to the AWTS Tank-Top Control Box is required. The minimum cable size is 2.5mm diameter for each of the three wires, Active, Neutral and Earth. The cable from the controlling switchboard to the AWTS Tank should be housed in a suitable protective conduit for its entire length, and buried to a safe depth. The cable location should be noted and marked on the site layout drawings, and a copy supplied to the householder. A section of flexible conduit must be used where the cable emerges from the ground beside the tank, with a loop of cable to allow for ground settlement. The Tank-Top Control Box is fitted with an external Alarm Plate to warn of system failure through loss of electrical power to the air compressor and irrigation pump. This will NOT be activated by a general loss of power to air compressor and the irrigation pump. This will NOT be activated by a general loss of power to the whole installation. No other alarm will be supplied unless specified. Internal

water Treatment Industries The statements below are known to be true and can be verified by the NSW Health Dept despite claims by some manufacturers in an effort to make quick sales. If you require wastewater-recycling system phone someone who will be here for the long term. The Aqua-Nova system has a factory backing of Everhard Industries 80 year old Australian company with an 80 year old good reputation. FACT All modern systems, no matter what make or brand name, use naturally occurring bacteria to break down and digest waste as a food form. These helpful bacteria when given ideal conditions inside the treatment system will multiply and convert harmful waste products into clean garden irrigation water. FACT Despite the claims of some manufacturers it is extremely inadvisable to dispose of harsh antibacterial cleaners such as bleaches and other chlorine based products as well as strong disinfectants into either septic tanks or treatment systems. These household chemicals cannot differentiate between harmful and helpful bacteria and destroy them all. This is greatly affects the processing of wastewater in all treatment systems. A fact easily verified by your local council health officer. FACT The household use of biodegradable and environmentally friendly cleaners that are low on sodium and phosphorous will reduce the build up of these harmful elements in the soils around your home. FACT All treatment systems require that the water loads from your home spend a given time within the treatment system in order for the treatment process to work. Common sense really! If your washing machine processes and discharges multiple loads, then a huge load of wastewater can prove too much in a short time for the helpful bacteria to properly treat. SIMPLE SOLUTION: Spread your washing loads over several days. *FICTION* - Household treatment systems never need desludging FACT All waste contains some non-organic components and while it is true that aerobic bacteria do digest a large range of waste, eventually an undigested sludge layer will occur. (Ask the owner of a system 7-8 years old) *FICTON* - Homeowners can discharge the treated water anywhere through sprinklers FACT If there were a system malfunction or power failure this discharge could be a health risk, so most Council Health Depts require dripper discharge to your garden, either below soil or a mulch layer. Each Council has its own regulations so give them a call. We are a licensed Everhard approved Local Aqua nova agent with code compliance. Licence No 15047
