Postgraduate Diploma / Postgraduate Certificate in ENTERPRISE RISK MANAGEMENT (ERM) INTRODUCTION The Postgraduate Diploma / Postgraduate Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management (The Programme) is unique in terms of scope of diversity and specialism focus. It is a multidisciplinary programme jointly offered by HKU SPACE s three Colleges with the following high-value attributes: A well-balanced module structure in risk management, corporate governance, law, money laundering, internal control, IT Forensics and finance subjects; Highlights of current concerns and analysis of the interplay of various challenges in the global financial markets; Excellent teaching by leading practitioners and academics; Interactive teaching with case studies, practicality and relevance is the essence of learning. TARGET STUDENTS Directors, senior managers, financial and accounting professionals who want to be well-versed in risk management. Market regulators, legal professionals, and bankers and those individuals who want to enhance their career in auditing or enterprise risk management. Each module is also suitable for corporate training purposes. PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES The objectives of the Programme are: To develop students knowledge and understanding of ERM multidisciplinary knowledge and theory. To equip students with the ability to apply ERM skills in the work environment. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE The Programme consists of ten modules, duration of each ranges from 33 to 42 contact hours. Module 1 Business and Professional Ethics * (36 hours) Module 2 Corporate Governance (36 hours) Module 3 Financial and Business Risk Management (37 hours) Module 4 Internal Control Concepts & Issues (36 hours) Module 5 Enterprise Risk Management Framework * (37 hours) Module 6 Information Technology Safety and Frauds Prevention (42 hours) Module 7 Commercial Crimes and Money Laundering Law Module 8 Managing Legal and Regulatory Risks - Legal Compliance and Liability Risks in Banking and Commercial Practice Module 9 Forensic Accounting Module 10 Managing Enterprise Risk through CSR Perspective Business Interruption Crisis Management Module 11 ARTICULATION PATH FOR THE ERM SERIES Postgraduate Diploma/Postgraduate Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management 6 modules, 12-month programme ( Modules include Enterprise Risk, Law, Corporate Governance, Business Ethic, IT Forensics and Accounting) Executive Diploma in Internal Controls and IT Frauds Prevention Executive Diploma in Enterprise Risk Management 2 modules, 4-month programme 2 modules, 4-month programme * Compulsory module Note: In view of cross-border practice, the elective module Legal Compliance and Liability Risks in Banking and Commercial Practice will be conducted in Chinese (i.e. Putonghua).

EXEMPTION Currently, there are two Executive Diplomas offered by the School and students can receive exemptions upon completing these diplomas. They are: a. Executive Diploma in Enterprise Risk Management, students will obtain exemptions from modules 3 & 5. b. Executive Diploma in Internal Controls and IT Frauds Prevention, students will obtain exemptions from modules 4 & 6. Maximum exemption is up to three modules ASSESSMENT & AWARD The written assessment component in this programme will comprise continuous assessment and final examination. The module final examination will usually account for 50% of the total assessment marks, whilst the continuous assessment will account for the remaining 50%. Students are also required to achieve 70% attendance. On completing three modules which consist of TWO core modules and ONE elective module, students will be awarded with the postgraduate certificate. If students elect to study and complete THREE more elective modules, they will be awarded the postgraduate diploma. Students can select to complete one module as short course which is non-award bearing. Statement of Attendance will be issued to students who can attain 70% attendance. Statement of Achievement will be issued to students who can attain 70% attendance and complete the assessment component. MODE & DURATION OF STUDY This is a taught part-time programme with extensive face-to-face teaching, delivered by HKU Faculty staff and experienced practitioners. Recommended sequence of study: October Intake First Semester April Intake Second Semester Enterprise Risk Management Framework (core) Business and Professional Ethics (core) Any other two elective modules Any other two elective modules This programme may be completed in a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 3 years. To allow more flexibility, students can take fewer than the stipulated modules, depending on their capacity and work schedule. MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION (a) English, occasionally supplemented with Cantonese. (b) The elective module of Legal Compliance and Liability Risks in Banking and Commercial Practice will be conducted in Chinese (i.e. Putonghua). (c) All assessments (coursework and examinations) will be in English, except the elective module of Legal Compliance and Liability Risks in Banking and Commercial Practice.

PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION This programme is recognized by The Institute of Risk Management (IRM) in the United Kingdom IRM s International Diploma in Risk Management is a broadly based postgraduate qualification for the risk management professional. Students can receive full exemption of Level 1 upon completing Postgraduate Diploma in Enterprise Risk Management. The Institute of Paralegals in the United Kingdom The Institute is a UK professional body for paralegals which sets national competency standards for paralegals and other non-lawyers working in the legal profession. Articulation and exemptions from Masters Programmes of Edinburgh Napier University Postgraduate Diploma graduates are awarded with 2 exemptions from MSc in Managerial Leadership and 1exemption from MSc in Business Management. ADMISSION Entry Requirements: Applicants shall: (a) hold a bachelor s degree awarded by a recognized university or equivalent; or (b) have achieved a level in relevant professional qualifications equivalent to a bachelor s degree. Applicants with other qualifications and substantial senior level work experience will be considered on individual merits.
